Can't believe this was once acceptable.

It still is, nothing wrong with the nylon coated cam gear, yes it wears from mileage, but so does iron.
Less harmonics transmitted plus its lightweight.
Belt driven cam?

If you install a double roller chain, don't use a tensioner.
