Dog owners inside

get this weester.... at about 13 weeks he starts getting really aggressive with my wife (and I mean REALLY aggresive). Then he went after our cat in a way that I've never seen a puppy act. Our vet sent over a behavioral specialist and said that he had never seen a puppy that young with that high of a drive to kill animals. She said he was suffering from some sort of doggie mental disease and guarenteed he would kill our cats and eventually attack and or kill my wife. His "gameness" was out of control. Now he is living life on a farm, evidently, executing rodents. At 10 weeks (thats a baby) he had figured out how to open the back door and go after any animals roaming our yard. He said a dog with the insatiable need to kill at 10 weeks old is way to dangerous.

That sucks...at least you found out early before you developed a deep attachment or before something awful happened.

Just FYI after placing an order with TLC Pet Foods over a week ago and not seeing any product yet I contacted them yesterday and she said "Oh we don't ship to the States"................

Guess its back to plan B which is Science Diet.... Bo hasnt eaten anything for 9 days waiting on that TLC so I guess he is getting Hungry:biggrin: (just kidding lol)

You need to do your homework when you buy a bull terrier!!! Always check out the parents of the puppy and ask for references from the breeder!!! They were originally bred as a fighting dog so if you get one with the wrong genes they can be a problem. Being a "terrier" they are also varmint dogs and love to go after furry little animals!!! They shouldnt be around cats!!!

Mine has been a kick in the butt and loves people!!! They can be total clowns and love lots of attention!!! Good dogs if you do your homework!!
I also have a Queensland Heeler!!! They also can be a handful if bred wrong!!! I did my homework and he is also a great dog!!

Actually I think ya have to do that with whatever type of dog you get .. My wife didn't want another dog when our 13 1/2 year old one died in Nov. Their deaths really tug at your heart. So she gave me some "requirements" that the dog would have to meet . Guess she thought I wouldn't be able to get one like that..
.
#1 Dog had to be raised in a house. (couldn't have just been tied up or living in a barn) There was only 1 M an 1 F left . As we walked up to their cage the female was doing handstands to get our attention. The male just looked at her an looked at us an just wagged his tail a little as he sat in a corner.

#2 .. dog couldn't be aggressive.. we take them everywhere so he couldn't be a "lunatic" (like I got in the 80's..He had to go to attack training school to have him under control. What a watch dog !! Tuffy was his name an it fit him to a "T". )
.
#3 Both parents had to be there so she could see them . (Mother was sitting on the front lawn waiting for us to come to see her "kid's". She walked over to us an led us around to the back of the house where the puppys were. A few minutes later Dad came out. Again a friendly dog lookin at us as if we were goin to take him for a ride. )
.
#4 Couldn't pay thousands of $$$$ for him

I forget the rest of the rules. Hey that was 3 months ago !! :p He met all her "requirements" easily.
.. He went up to the beach again last night . Beach was packed with people. He just walked along looking to make eye contact with people so they would pat him .. Played the "ham" thing out to everyone. Old people and small kids . Oh after a while he got tired so he just laid down while we ate. I think we got what we paid for

I did do my homework and the breeders dogs were great. They had 3 cats and a male and female BT with no problems. But when a 10 week old puppy aggressively growls and bites your wife in attack mode and couldn't be calmed down even when I pulled him away, theres a problem. Have you ever seen a 10 week old puppy go into a complete 2 minute rage for being gently pet?

no i have not..wow.

speaking of terriers, Samy the Schnauzer LOVES playing with cats....go figure. its usually the cats who hates him.

sounds like he had "rage" syndrome:

"Incidents of unexplained aggression toward human members of its own family by a dog which usually behaves normally may signify rage. A Bull Terrier with rage is an extremely frightening and dangerous dog. The episodes are usually unpredictable. Some owners claim that the dog gets a glazed look in its eyes before a "spell". Prognosis is poor. It is important not to confuse dominance aggression with rage. Whereas dominance aggression is a behavioral problem which can often be overcome by correct training and proper handling, rage is apparently a neurological dysfunction which does not seem to respond to training."

Wow! Nice find Weester. Thanks for that and it actually gives us a little closure. It was bizarre and pretty damn scary. It was only with my wife. I mean it was this adorable little baby puppy and he would go absolutely psycho for well over a minute. Snapping and growling and squirming to get out of my grip to get at my wife. The behavioralist said puppies can be aggressive but their attention spans are short and should regain composure instantly. He couldn't. I should have youtubed it. Thanks again for the find!

I dont know what my wife feeds ours but they leave hair all over the house.
