When putting dipstick it is tight.do you push it in till it stops or tap it in till it stop.is there a stop that keeps it from going in any farther?

Try turning it 180 degrees and reinstall. Mine is sticky one way, fine the other. Makes the "ENGINE OIL" read upside down.

The dipstick.

If you're talking about the tube there is a flare about an inch and a half up on the bottom end of the tube that keeps it from going down/in too far.

Just push it in until the ridge on the tube contacts the block. The ridge on the tube will stop it

If you have a girdle, it may be hitting it. If not, just tap it in with a plastic mallet.

Dipstick tube

Put a tight fitting wrench on the lip at the base of the tube at the lip. Then hit it with a swatter. Make sure to put some thin sealant on the tapered end of the tube. I prefer Yamabond.
