I'm afraid to ask this question but were there two different size crank sensors for our 86 87 turbo cars? Why going through my parts, I found two different size brackets that would hold a bigger and smaller crank sensor. I really believe the older I'm getting the dumber I am. Can somebody help me with Crank sensors for dummies.

One seems to have a part number of 25535480 and the other is part number 25526123

The smaller one to the right in your photo was the last version I bought from GM a few years back.

I saw a link from Hot Air 1 and I clicked on it and printed it out and now it's gone for some reason but it seems like that older version really shouldn't be used anymore as it was a faulty one

Look at the two links I posted above. I think you will find the info you seek. If I recall correctly, the aluminum sensor you have pictured is an early '86 model. The smaller black plastic sensor is the improved late '86 & '87 sensor.

I think jm is correct. For some reason I can't Open the link. Just got this new phone and maybe I have to work on something. Thank you for your reply

My '87 had the aluminum sensor when I pulled the timing cover. I replaced it with the smaller one.

I am almost positive my 87 had that same sensor and it possibly went bad and was changed to the small one

I guess the point here is the other one. I have brand new is a piece of wall art
