Closed vs Open Loop at Idle.

I just got another updated chip from Eric. I got ahead of myself with mods. It was time for an update.

The instructions tell how to set closed loop at idle if desired.

Why would someone want closed loop at idle?

Less rich idle. Some cars can idle nicely in closed loop.

Closed loop is another term for fuel correction. It means the ecm is using feedback from the o2 sensor to maintain a set AFR determined by the chip. Usually 14.5-14.7. Most cars idle rough at that level. Putting a chip in open loop idle turns off correction and generally enriches the AFR. With correction turned off (open loop idle) changes made to base tune via translator or chip settings will directly effect the AFR.

Most of time the cars idle better between 12.5-13.5 AFR

Hope this helps
