Caspers cap suggestion - you good with this?

Caspers cap maker told me to shim the cap up since I could not get the light to go out even at the window. I did that and it worked, but doesn't the ring move up when cranking over, thus no accurate signal? I'm not ready to run this rebuild, to know if it would start up yet. Thanks, Brian

Brian,

I'd use the Casper's cap to adjust the cam sensor then put the stock cap back on. The idea of having to shim the cap doesn't seem right. Since the cam sensor has a helical gear and a fair amount of end play it will move up and down as the sensor rotates.

Your spot on with that Neal.
Got the engine running today, and it was slow to fire with the Caspers cap. Put old faithful on and starts were instant. Thank you.

Not a fan of that cap personally. Would rather have the tool that plugs in. I think Casper might still make that.
