Bringing my garage up to par for another project car.

That black flake will make it harder to find those small clips , nuts , washers , & screws that always jump out of your hand , and hide small oil leaks that most Turbo Buicks have. Just a thought ... Sam

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not terribly concerned about it, especially since my car is purpose built and won't be TB powered.

So I know it's been a bit since I updated this, the project came to a standstill waiting to do the epoxy coating on the floors. I had everything to do the floors for over a year before the weather finally cooperated and gave me a week long window that would work.

First up was a pressure wash, a muriatic acid bath, and two more pressure washes.

I had planned to do two coats of epoxy, and I'm glad that I did. I used a solvent based epoxy rather than a waster based, and the concrete was so porous that it sucked the first coat in like watering down a sandbox. I'm glad I did my homework, because I expected this.

2nd coat going down with flakes. I didn't do as good of a job as I wanted to on the flakes, but it was my first time.

The last step in the flooring project was two coats of epoxy clear coat to protect all of the flakes, and make cleanup much easier (it is too, I've tested it).

With the floors wrapped up and out of the way, that let me move on to some of the other projects like insulating the garage door and finishing painting the walls. As you can see I also started moving things in and picked up a new toolbox for myself, it beats the crap out of that $250 portable tool kit I used when I built my last car.

The garage was far from done, but I was at least at a point now to where I could bring the Buick home. It spent the past year sitting in my father in laws back yard, so I was happy to get it into an air conditioned garage.

However, since the garage project was far from done I needed a way to move the Buick around without rounding up a group of buddies to push it around. So I picked up a set of wheel dollies off Amazon and built a body/frame cart. It came out perfectly and the car is so easy to move around my 8 year old son can do it.

Looks fantastic fella, good job! One side benefit I had was it almost completely eliminated dust getting on my car. I never realized how much dust raw concrete floor would give off.

I still have a ton of things I need for the garage, and much work to do, but I had to give my bank account a break as we had a summer vacation coming up. I took that time to do little things that I had been putting off for a while.

I hung all my old licence plates, I don't know why the DMV hates me.

I went through and rewired the optical sensors for the garage door. I hated the wiring they had before, so I used CAT5 and a punchdown in the outlet to make it nice and tidy.

This is where I sit as of now. The Buick has been stripped but I'm waiting for my tax return to pick up the work bench, welder, compressor, and a few other toys.

Looks good. I put up a 40' x 64' pole building last year, and I can't stay away from cars long enough to make it usable.

Keep the updates coming.

I've made a few more updates since I left this thread last, I'm getting closer to being ready to rock and roll finally.

The audio quality of the TV speakers pumping out whatever music I had going left quite a bit on the table, so I picked up a sound bar to get the garage jamming. I also ran all of the wires inside the walls for the TV, sound bar, and Android stick.

With all of the cables hidden in the wall finally, I was able to pick up a track system for tool storage. This will be where all the big stuff that doesn't go in the tool box is stored. Grinders, electric impacts, sawzall, etc etc etc.

I also finally picked up a nice work bench. I've never had a work bench before, and I have to tell you, it's kinda nice. I set it to a level that's comfortable for me and it makes working on things a breeze. (Sorry the first pic is blurry, my phone died as I was taking the pics).

Now that the garage is pretty much ready to go, I've started collecting tools also. I picked up a 8" chop/miter saw and a friend had this drill press for sale for $20. It's a Harbor Freight knock off and not my first choice, but it was 20 freakin bucks. I cleaned it up and slapped a coat of paint on it.

That's all for now, more to come soon.

Place looks great.. Not to be a dick but its a code violation to run cords conceiled in walls above drop ceilings etc.. The idea is that they may get brittle, wich you won't see and cause fire which insurance may not cover..

The code applies to all flexible cables, but my entire house is wired in flexible cable. I worked for an A/V company for several years and my step father is an IBEW electrician, it's fine.

Place looks awesome. Did you buy the work bench, have it built, or built by you?
