Selling my Silverado on Craigslist..
So, of course, the instant the ad hit, I started getting bullshit responses.
This one is weird.
He's using a Google "code" to verify, what, I don't have a clue. I guess to see if he's dealing w/ a bot.
I get the code, and see this in the code message.
adalah kode verifikasi Google voice Anda. Jangan bagikan
kode ini kepada siapa pun

I sent the code back to him, and told him we speak English, here. He was to call me as soon as I sent him the code. Crickets.
His fone is 334-478-2117. Lower 1/2 of Alabama.
These assholes really make the selling of "stuff", a real pain in the ass.

Any offers from Sudan yet? They could be phishing to sell your e-mail address or anything else they can get. Like the old phone call and asks you to press one and when you do your'll find a big charge on your bill because pressing 1 means you agreed to it. Craigslist should spend a few dollars and update to some better security.

I never put a phone number on craigslist (not to mention that site doesn't work for shit anymore with actual sales). They don't seem to email near as much as BS texts.

What's funny is when I list stuff for sale I always put ''this is a real car that will be sold IN PERSON to someone with CASH in hand. ''Don't bother trying to scam me''.

the last ad I put up only took 16 minutes to get a BS scam email. I hope you really enjoy all the gay porn daily message lists and battered animal charities benfrost35@gmail.com. :)

Sorry Chuck, but you've been had. Google Voice Verify is a scam. When you verify the code it allows them to capture your phone number to use for other reasons. If you search it on line there are a couple of different ways to recapture your number so they cannot use it anymore. Plus it was probably a spoofed number to start with so probably not even in Alabama. I've got some stuff on C-list as well and it was less than 10 minutes before I got my first scammer.

The time frame is dead on! My phone was on the computer desk. It went off, with 2 texts, within 5 minutes!
I'm going to search the number, and see what I get.
Should have known better! When I asked where in Alabama, he replied "yes". Duh:rolleyes:
I had Google Earth at 1 time. A search went to a point, that it showed a pic of the location. Crashed, and I never reloaded it.

Thanks, for the tip!

F/up. Googled the scam. The Google Verify is a legit ap, but is used as a scam.
Seems there's a fairly easy, {for someone better at doing it}, way to recover the fone number.
Will see if my 6 mo old great grandson can do it for me!

Got some more info. The procedure to get the number back may/may not work, as the scammer only uses it long enuf, to get a Google Voice acct set up. He then discards the number, and moves on.
We'll see.

Thanks all!

I posted a few ads for my Dad on CL. Been a while since I posted anything on CL. Was surprised at the $5 listing fee per ad in the auto section. It was seconds after the ads went public that he received texts wanting to do the Google "verify" thing. It was new to me, but with that quick of a response I figured it was some automated scam.

The World is becoming more & more of a PITA every day!

Well, I guess if we don't hear from you again we'll know what happened! That the call was legit!!!

Yesterday, in the midst of all the other scam crap, I get a call, showing my name and fone #, on the caller ID! WTF?
And, to top it off, the puss on the other end, is speaking, what sounds like, Chinese, Korean, etc.
It's getting so bad, that I've turned the ans machine off, & don't answer calls, that don't have an identifier with the calling #.
The list of blocked #'s, on my cell, is absurd.
Too bad it's illegal to use cyber warfare, on these assholes.
Sure would be nice: The scammer calls, you initiate an attack response, the perp 's fone is unusable, for 10 yrs!o_O:D
