I don't know if it's still done, it was just a few years ago, poultry supply companies used to ship day old chicks in corigated containers via USPS. Mail personnel hated springtime because they had all these noisy birds hanging out at the post office until someone would pick them up.Shipping a dog? like in a box via UPS? No. Do not do that. Absolutely not. Nope. It'll be dead at the end of the trip. If it survives, it'll likely be mentally damaged from the stress.
Look up dog rescue organizations. They often run relays with dogs to move them cross country. A volunteer loads a few animals in a car, and they drive, stopping every couple of hours to let the dogs out to move around. The get somewhere and hand the animals off to somebody else for the next leg.
The airline is the one to call, i must have talked to the Co. idiot cause when i called again i found out the only restriction is that they fit in a carrier under the seat when they are a carry-on.. beats the hell out of a 12hr one way drive.A friend of mine owns a dog kennel selling 100 dogs a year. He competes and travels nationally. His reputation in the business is really good and well know across the country. He ships almost all his puppies through the airport. I'm not sure of the process but it's done everyday at every airport. Give the airport close to the area of the puppy a call and see what the details, process, and price. I would think its way cheaper than driving and less convenient for sure.
SmhMy wife just got 2 puppies from a breeder in Arizona . She paid $500 for them to be delivered by a " Nanny " who flies with them as carry on .
Hey , she lets me do what I want with my Buick , and she makes way more than me !!
Save a life. Go to your local pound. If you don't like the selection, go back a week later. Some pounds even post pics on line.
