I got a 5.3 block and crank for sale for $275. The deals are out there, you just got to look. Craigslist is good. Don't be afraid of 100k+ miles stuff.

Try leaving your cell # with them and have them give you a call just as soon as one comes in?

Not right now. Put 3 12 hour days in at work this week. Got home and got stuck on the couch in front of the TV lol. Hope to get something done tonight.

I wish I had a vacation week I only worked 36 hours! Get your azz off the couch and get busy, lol.

Well I did work on it some tonight. Cut out of work a little early.
No real good pics to show....but I will post one of the engine ready to go in. I'm not done with the valve covers yet. I ground off the bungs for the coils since mine will be mounted on the fire wall. I jb welded the remaining holes then plan to sand them flat and paint the covers.

Ordered all my header piping. Hope to have that here early next week.

Here's the only photo from tonight..

Did you make it down the track yet?

Nope. Havent even driven it since unloading it off the trailer after the return from NC. I havent upgraded my FAST software yet. I have the solenoid to control boost ready to connect when the XFI gets updated. After that I will ease into tuning at about 18-19psi until I feel all is well and start turning it up. If it grenades again I am not sure what I will do.
I will keep you posted.

Tonight we made some good progress. We solved the steam hole issue that they talk about. This engine came with block offs in the back so the choice was find a newer setup or do our own thing. I decided to drill and tap out the holes to 1/8th npt. Then i did all hardlines. Turned out pretty nice for a home made deal. Drilled and tapped the water pump....seems like that is the most popular spot to take all the lines.
Also cleaned up the stock throttle body. Since i had the 1/8 npt tap out, I tapped the hole in the too of the tb and got rid of the vacuum hose. Also had to get a 90 degree fitting for the map sensor. When it was screwed into the intake straight up, it hit the fuel rail. Only thing left to do I think is to get the -10 return welded into the oil own then I can sit this engine in the car.

Btw...if you run this elbow with the stick throttle body....you need a $12 adapter plate. Of course I didn't know until it came to installation time. My parts guy said he'll have it Monday;)

Looks good! Yeah the hotside was fun for my setup, I bet I pulled that driver's side manifold off a thousand times to make sure everything was gonna clear. You are making good progress, you'll be done long before I am.

Kevin, what's is this "steam hole " issue all about? Can u elaborate a little, had never heard of such thing. Keep it coming, thanx.

There is a hole one each end of the head. To get the best cooling, it is said that they all have to be connected and tap into the coolant system. From my research, that place on the water pump where I drilled amd tapped into seemed to be a common place people used.
