4l80e?

No way to offend me. The first trannies were a worn stock, and a junkyard 200r4. Both puked the second gear band.

You are just one in a line of guys looking to comment on how they have ran low 11's on a 200-4r. I'm not denying it can be done, it is done every day.

As the OP said,"I have owned my car since 1995, I look back on the time and money that I have spent on the 200 4R, it would have been worth it to me to have gone with the 4L80E and been done with it for good."

I'm trying to eliminate the ****in tranny as an issue once and for all.
Did you ever get this done?

old thread but, I was wondering how much messaging of the trans tunnel etc. is needed to physically fit a 4L80E in there?

I've install one in my v8 Buick. I purchased the transmission from an GM hydromatic engineer...he gave me a ton of info. You can take any 4l80e and with 3 simple switches shift it. Infact I made my own electronic shift module but also have three switches to do shifting as a backup. Really I don't need the switches anymore since I know my setup is reliable.

My GN has a RMVB Extreme automatics 4l80 w/Reid bellhousing. My seam was already rolled and it fit like a glove (think the reid BH helps), its a heavy SOB to get up on the jack tho!!!. Now to the crossmember I have the icemans......would NOT recommend getting it. Its not that rigid and actually had to send my original one back as the welds were cracked in several spots. Took a few weeks to get my replacement (took a few contacts to get my shipping reimbursed as well) and it wasn't the fastest turn around, I think its a small outfit. Also, if your body bushings aren't primo it will be very close to floorboard and many times will hit or rattle with a passenger(s) in car. With everything bolted up you can grab crossmember and pull down and it will flex easy 1/4" and thats with HnR engine mounts!! If you get one check it over thoroughly!!!
