Any know why or can explain why my 818 cast number says 4.1 block. But the stamp in the block says 3.8 any one seen this before.

Yeah I don't know what is going on with that casting number. Gnttype says it's a 4.1 but here's where it gets weird. I found not one, but TWO cars in the junkyard that had the vin code for 4.1 and said 4.1 on the radiator shroud sticker. Both cars had 818 blocks that said 3.8. One I discovered after it was pulled And was curious enough that we pulled a head and measured the bore to verify it was 3.8. The second one I just discovered yesterday. Talk about a let down.

Yea very confused on this.

At this point the only explanation I have is that gnttype is simply wrong and I'm just unlucky to have found two cars with engine replacements.

yea like I was telling you over the phone the other night the only way to know is to measure the bore . 3.800= stock bore 3.8 3.965=4.1 stock bore

I'd love to see pics of an 818 that's actually a 4.1. Cause I've seen enough to call bullshit.

Here is a picture of the casting on the block . The casting number is one that’s supposed to be a 4.1 not a 3.8
