Hey guys, I'm in need of a tranny and got a bead on one close by, supposedly BRF out of a GN. Owner doesn't know any history as he had it for awhile for a project he never got around to.

Need to know what to look for that could avoid be having to do a rebuild (trying not to rebuild now, will rebuild mine once I pull it...in time).

Any tips to look for would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure it has the correct valvebody in it (BR2, BR3), look for excessive debris in the pan, check for worn stator support, correct torque converter (D5), burnt fluid in pan or converter?

I am in same situation.

i think you want one that was stored with Trans fluid still in it.

The Converter i think should not be stored hangin on the shaft....I also am asking this in my post.

Any way you look at it if it is BRF your getting the best 200r4 out there.

You could always ask a shop to break it down & build it in stages and pay as they build.
