87 - has a kenny motor - TA block etc.. have Jasons downpipe- large IC. Fast ecu- piggyback harness
baileys coil packs etc. Don Cruz fan setup and teflon lines- dual pumps .. so havent skimped that i know of.

motors brand new maybe 100 miles on it now-- havent really been able to get it going as having trans issues
this is a street car and occasional friday nite street drags- but i know its going to get booted once it goes too fast- this car is MINT 12000 orig miles and im not putting a cage in it (at least at this time)

its an art carr trans- rearching now i may not have gone that way but this was all decided on a year ago- bunch of issues but im not blaming anyone just unfortunate circumstances- like original converter was for a lockup and trans has no lockup internals this converter was from PTC- car wouldnt move- then got converter replaced-

when first installed worked fine 1 day - and then next day the converter blew up the torrington bearing in it and put metal thru the valve body- this was last month- (this was a loaned converter from Kenny) pulled trans out for second time and had someone locally go thru it as didnt want to wait 2 weeks to ship back to CPT and miss what was left of summer here- got a new CPT 10" converter non lockup 3000 stall-

now its back together but the shifts are Really soft-- WOT shifts dont seem to work now- TV cable is adj correctly. local guy is saying needs a shift kit but i get the impression this should have better governor pressure and a slightly modified GN valve body already? the shifts are so soft - softer than a 90s caddy -- you can feel it shift all the gears but it just feels like mush..

can i fix this thing with some changes or is it time to pull the plug and order a new trans from one of the other 3 i see mentioned now

Extreme automatics
turbobuickperformance- david
CK
and i see Jason at rjc has some upgrade parts he sells--
this all just came up yesterday so havent had time to call anyone- (if anyone is open on a sat) but im ready to order another trans monday if i cant fix this..

thanks

Call Dave up at TurboBuickPeformance. He built my transmission for me this year and you will not be disappointed. He answers all the time and will give free advise and set you in the right direction. I only let him touch my transmission.

Call Dave Husek @ Turbobuick Performance . You can call him on Sunday , he will answer .

X3 Dave Husek. TBP FTW!!! Builds awesome 200r-4's In Addition he can do anything TR related.

Where are you located?

We have done hundreds of GN tranny builds using Dave's parts.

The local guy will virtually never get it right. Especially not at a high power level. It's like bringing a Buick v6 to a SBC specialist and expecting him to get it right.

I went to rjc racings site because I didn't know he was offering any trans parts. I can't believe he's selling the transgo no yoyo kit as a performance upgrade. That kit is GARBAGE for performance use. Hoping he just picked the wrong stock photo for his site.

pressure hasnt been checked-- after reading some more yesterday i was going to put a fitting in the trans and do that tomorrow- i was planning on calling DH -

Nick- im in Vancouver - but everything ships out of Wa so doesnt matter where it has to get sent - i see your in AZ

is there any long term hope for this Art Carr trans or were they good years ago and everyones passed them by?

i noticed RJC shows using that but way back in 2009 or so? i emailed jason yesterday but i havent heard back from him yet to see if thats what is still in it today ..

i noticed yesterday that the champion intake is taller where the throttle and tv mount is and the TV cable is on an angle - i dont know how much that will affect the TV cable on the geometry but its definitely not a flat plane--

If the cable is on an angle going up to the throttle body it will affect the pressures vs throttle angle. It should pull straight. Get that straightened out first and then do a pressure check.

i had already decided to modify the mount after i did my post-- and cut it down almost 3/4" - its now directly inline with the tab on the throttle body. went on some test drives - and its better-- but was trying to test WOT shifting and then the braking system started acting up-- ill do another post but the hydroboost setup somehow decided to keep the brakes applied until they were smoking - couldnt release the brakes without unbolting the master from the HB assy.. my guess is its a defective HB but not sure yet

Why arent you giving CPT the chance to make it right? Even though you already voided the warranty by letting a local shop go thru it, give Art the chance to make it right.

Do yourself a big favor and call Dave husek he builds a great 200.

CPT is willing to repair it. I'm just checking my options before I send it back.

Art sent me a new input shaft and the filter and gasket after the second converter let go. .so I could try to get this fixed quick and even offered to do the trans immediately if I shipped it back with a 2 day turnaround. so his service has been great. I just don't want to pull this for a 5th time..

although I do have it to under an hour now to pull the tranny lol.. . once it's on the hoist

I also spoke with Dave yesterday. he wants me to see what valve body is in this trans. if it's a brf or another.
he also said he would build a trans for what I want based on kennys cam profile and use of car. and adjust my shift points accordingly.

if Art can do that maybe it will go back but the rest of this car is custom and I believe it needs a stage plus trans from Dave and have him cut open this converter and verify it too.. .

anyone got a spare trans for a core to ship to dave? I'd buy another . ship to him build it and have this CPT one as a spare.

I cant count how many times ive pulled the trans in both my cars. But if you dont you cant drive it. And once you get started its pretty quick. If he is willing to fix it give it to the man, thats just my opinion.

Dave is a great builder and i just threw one of his converters in my car. Where are you located?

linkage dropped about 3/4"..

i may move it to the pass side a half inch now as well but at least now it's not an angle vertically

well Kennys got an extra buick 2004r trans and its going to David to have the Pro Plus build and one of his TC..

so i dont expect it back to around thanksgiving but that should be a good present then.. once the trannys good we will be most likely upping the injectors from the current 120s to some 160cc and going E85..

Boost 231 has a great deal on 160# billet atomizers on page 3 of the for sale section.
