Hello, My turbo-t has 100000 miles, oil changed every 3000 miles with mobil 1. A buddy who is old school chevy said I would be taking a chance trying to run 12s with a motor with that many miles. Anyone here with 100000 plus running 12s or better? My sig shows mods. I am taking car to bill anderson tommorow to get tuned. I would love to show my buddy how incredable these motors are. Thanks. Don

You have nothing to worry about. I had 130,000 miles on mine and was running 12's on all the stock stuff. I figured the engine was getting tired so I decided to pull it for a rebuild, everything was perfect in the motor. I should have just put it back together and ran it for another 130,000 miles. But instead I rebuilt it. You will be fine to go 11's with it, as I'm sure many others will tell you too.

I think one of B. Mason's in Petersburg GN's have over 200,000 on the motor and has been low 11's:eek:

With the 390 gears and the 275 60 15s what do you think the final gear ratio is. I would think you may not be pulling by the end of the race.

I'm not an expert here so I may be just typing for practice.

My untouched engine has 144,000+ miles. In Texas (San Antonio at 700feet altitude) I ran 12.3@113. Here in Colorado at 6100 feet (after adding RJC Powerplate and a THDP) I ran a 12.6@111. Factor in the altitude and that's about an 11.7-11.9 run. 100,000 miles? You've just broken the rings in, although I'd replace them valvesprings bubba.

Add me to the list! See the GN in my sig. below... and my T-Type ran it's best when it was at 94K (close to 100!). It had a little knock upon startup, but everything looked great when I tore it down for a "performance" rebuild. Should've just left it alone!

the weak point would be a stock timing chain with the nylon gear...otherwise, if it has oil pressure, go for it.

First time at the track for me and the car.

140K miles. 12.6 at 108 LVD. 2.1K elevation 1.89 60 ft. ;)

New valve springs and timing chain is about it.

Stock 140K tranny (with cooler) and no lockup.

Gonna run the GN someday soon too only 114K on that one. :)

Add Mine

Check my sig-ran my fastest at 130,000 miles. 7.9 1/8 mile is mid 12's(12.40's maybe?) Don't be scared!:D

Don, Here is one more for you. My car has 128,500 mi. and has never been opened up.I did replace valve springs at 93,000 and the timing chain at 115,000. It has had Mobile 1 in it since new. I run a compression check every 3 to 4 months and the last one produced 160 on five cylinders and 157 on the other. The car runs consistant 12.00's and ran a best of 11.85 at Nationals this year. This is with a stock turbo also. So tell your friend that yes it can be done. Don't forget to watch the KR.

add me to the list also, i ran 12.61@105 with my motor and you have another 100000 miles to go to catch me.

Umm. ASSuming that this thing is tuned properly I'd say that you are already in the 12s. The number at the track is just a figure that backs up your day to day SOTP feelings.

My 87 motor has 80,000 miles and I just threw a timing chain and some valve springs at her.

My advice: Run the bitch!

Thanks, I tryed to tell my buddy pretty much the same thing! I did do the timing chain and valve springs, now can,t wait to get it back from Anderson Peformance! Thanks again. Don

149K miles and running 11.9-12.0 consistently and plans are
to go faster...have replaced the cam/timing chain but nothing on the bottom end...
