1.1g lateral in a Grand National?

You listed the backspace as 6.7 with a 1/4 inch spacer. That seems like too much backspace or maybe it was a type error.

Not a typo. Look at the pictures. Read the part about the brake kit widening the track two inches.

The wheels may not be out of round like you think. Factory wheels are hub-concentric and aftermarket can be lug-concentric. You need to find someone that can check the balance with a finger adapter. The fingers go in the lug holes to center the wheel on the shaft, not through the center hole.;)

Yeah. No such thing in town. I have some hub-centric adapters coming to see if they help. If they don't, I'm going to have to buy the finger adapter myself and loan it to the alignment shop. They're only... $400.

Any GM dealer should have it. They are called flange plates. They are not used alone they are used in conjunction with a collet on the backside and the flangeplate on the front. The flange plate alone cannot support the pressure of the loaded assembly when a road force roller applies up to 1200 lbs of pressure. GM dealers esspecially should have flange plates because they are REQUIRED on newer OEM wheels which are plastic clad. Roadforcing a plastic clad wheel with a traditional pressure cup can crack the cladding. Used correctly the collet (notice I said collet not cone) supports the assembly while the flange plate forces it center while putting no pressure on the face of the wheel. On a side note, if the wheels were balanced by coning from the front this can also introduce mounting errors. Should be coned from the back, and the use of collets is the prefered and sometimes only method of being able to do it depending on the wheel. Hunter balancers have a centering check feature but you can always do it the old school way. Mount the assembly up and spin, mark the amount and location of weight called for, unmount wheel, spin adapter, mount all back up and see if the called for weight amount and location is the same (best to use static for this test but when you actually balance use dynamic). If the weight amount and location is not thr same you are not reproducing which means you are NOT centered on the balancer and you will balance it incorrectly.

... And for the record, I drove like crap. DFL. But the car works. My harness bruised my chest.

I'm not sure that I agree [about your driving]... looks very smooth. That has to be quite a rush.
I hope that you are having a good time no matter what
You are certainly enlightening quite a few folks (y) Nice work!

It was sloppy. I was way off several marks, my launches were terrible (2.4 60'! Stinky!). And when I got an element right, I fell victim to screwing up the next element because I got there more quickly than expected. I think I left at least two seconds a side out on the course.

But thanks!

And onward! Had a local event today, much better. I was more relaxed. I'm 0.9 seconds behind people that were beating me by 4 seconds last fall. I'll drop that video over the in Autocross Porn thread once I get it uploaded.

Sorry, I can't seem to tell too much from the video  I'll try to be more critical next time o_O (also never sure which/how many smilies it takes for everyone to recognize a little sarcasm)

IMHO, as long as you having fun... the rest is all gravy (y)(y)

Glad to see another TB carrying the torch! I've been out of auto crossing for half of last year and all this year so far since my wife is working on the weekends and my 4 year old can't be a passenger when I race lol. I'm glad wasn't the only one doing well with stock sway bars. I had the Ride Tech Coil overs and nothing else for a long time except good tires like you said. Right before I stopped last year I put the Muscle Bar on the front and the adjustable DSE on the rear, you will be amazed at how much nicer the car rotates with those!

Did it again. This time on the old 245mm Direzzs. Turned out one of my Welds actually wasn't round. It's back at the factory getting corrected.

I lost to an LS7 powered C10 pickup with 600 horsepower and a full frame replacement and Detroit Speed suspension, and 305s all around... By 0.2 seconds.

]I finally swapped out for a manual master. Telemetry shows I'm able to brake at least 1G, so I think the only thing you'd gain from a hydroboost is extra weight and flat spotted tires. I am very much looking at the new aluminum drums Kirban is about to start selling. I think with the reduced weight and better heat shedding, they might be almost if not just as effective as a rear disc conversion without any of the cost or hassle.

This is interesting to me. I personally love the feel of manual brakes but I've only had them in small and very light vehicles. Vac brakes are very spotty on my car.

Was that the Roadster Shop C10? If so that thing runs pretty damn good, I've seen it at Good Guys Fort Worth. Sounds like your car (and driving skills) are doing well! Keep it up.

It was Mark Turner.

I know he runs Good Guys events, but don't know if he's the one you're thinking of. There were two other C10s with similar builds there, too, but his was a beast.

I just got my wheel back from Weld, so I'll have the big rubber back on for this upcoming Sunday. If he comes up to Louisville for the event, I'll have a surprise for him.

My vacuum conversion was great around town. Racing? It was terrible.

Got the big tires on and fixed the alignment, and boy, what a difference. Nobody showed up for CAM-T today, so I bumped myself up to CAM-C.

Last event I would have placed 9th. Today I got second, against largely the same people. I had the lead up until the second to last run when Russell Wood jumped me in his Fox Mustang.

Turbo6inKY would you share your alignment specs?

This is with the Speedtech arms.

I want more caster, but we ran out of shims. This is with 160lbs in the driver seat and a half tank of fuel. Now that UMI has new arms that can get you 10 degrees of caster, I'll likely switch to those this upcoming winter.
