Did we lose posted pics in the server problem?

I sent a guy towards a detailed write up I did on here with many many build pics and it appears the pics aren’t loading. Are they gone for good? I still have the pics but it’d be a pain in the ass. Thanks guys I know this stuff is a bitch to deal with.

Found a new way to fail: Direct drum small bushing bore

Drum has a slight lip on the inside of small bushing bore that's good for ruining the bushing when you press it in. I realize this could be a mushroomed surface from wear but in this case it appears to be mismachined at the factory. Trans was a low mileage unit that was actually pulled before...

    Iron rings in forward??

I bought a shelf full of hard parts from a trans shop awhile back. Digging through it today, just noticed one of the forward drums has iron rings on it. Was this a factory setup at some point in production? I won't run them, I was just curious as I thought they were all split Teflon from gm.

    200-4R with proper nailhead bellhousing!

Thought you guys would enjoy this. This uses Lonnie's little known 200-to-4L60e flange bellhousing adapter and the nailheadbuick.com bellhousing to create a proper fitting overdrive for cars like the 65-66 grand sport and early rivieras etc. previously you had to use hokey ass adapters (which...

Looking for the owner of 248

Long story short, years ago i figured out by dumb luck that the vin to my car is sequential (one digit lower) than gnx #248. I'm considering selling my GN and thought the owner of 248 might want first crack at it. Last time it was for sale I believe it was in Texas and only had 5k miles or so.

    Name the mystery cartridge

it measures .308 but it's shorter than the Winchester .308 rifle cartridge. Found it in a trade in truck at work. 9mm on the left just for scale.

Anybody break a pin extender before?

Long story short it's the first and last time I'll ever use one! But it was a ck servo and even with the longest stock pin and shimmed it still fell short of ideal clearance. I went back in the trans for other reasons and found it broken. It didn't do any damage but band clearance was well...

    Aftermarket pump washers

Ordered a couple pump washers and they showed up in generic bags and have a different appearance than the gm washers. Are they safe to run if the end play is set up properly or are they failure prone?

Need to locate one of these r-12 adapters

I've always had my coworker mess with my a/c for me and he has this adapter for the high side that no one else around seems to have. Well he quit this week and I need to give this one back to him and purchase my own so I can get my a/c working before power tour (again). Anybody have the...

Odd problem with OD pinion "wear washers"

the 4 wear washers that are closest to the sprag are well within spec with a feeler gauge but are worn laterally, egg shaped the holes and wobble around. All 4 washers did this, all on the same side of the planet. Everything else about the planet is cherry as this is a low mile 87 brf that I'm...

    Direct drum balancing

just a random question I'm pondering. The extra notches in the direct drum are different in every drum I've seen. Are they cut in after the drum is built in an effort to balance it? Some sure seem to have a lot of weight cut out of one side and with the rpm these spin in first I'd assume they...

    Direct drum rings

Short version: had to hone some minor ring wear out of an otherwise cherry drum (from a low mile trans) and it measures about .001-.0015 out of round with a bore gauge. Didn't measure the actual dimension (though I can) but it wasn't a lot of honing. I'm sure it will physically function fine...

Who has done hydraulic lockup valve in a transplant?

i found a valve body with the hydraulic lockup valve in it and want to help a friend putting a monte ss trans in a 455 regal with a d5. Worth doing? Or should it be left electrically switched? Bob

20+ year old kicker 6.5s still in the wrapper

buddy finally dug these out for me. kinda crazy find but I'm not sure I'll use them in my kick panel pods cause they're friggin 8 ohm impedance. I'm kinda stoked cause this will be the first system I ever pulled off with proper midbass and active crossovers. Amp I had in mind is an honest...

    BR <VS> CZ downshift/kickdown manners

I am aware of the different TV sleeve without the part throttle passage that the BR has, which to my understanding is only for a 4-3 kickdown. My question is if the CZ has a noticeably more sensitive kickdown strategy elsewhere, I.E. MTV down differences, etc. Reason I ask is because I am...

Help me unblock a 4th accumulator

short version. Building a trans for a guy, brf core he brought me has a checkball driven into the 4th accumulator passage. The more I think about it, I don't think I want to run it that way. So I'm facing the choice of drilling a passage around it and leaving it or drilling tiny holes around...

    Teflon ring installer/sizer

do the 700/4l60e solid Teflon ring installers and sizers work on the input shaft and forward drum shaft? I've done it without them but thought id keep an eye out for them cheap so I can quit using the hacker method.

Help me uninstall a shift kit (brf)

I'm probably trying to piss up a rope here but thought I'd try anyway. I have a brf core here with a br3 valve body that has been rebuilt at some point in time and appears to have a shift kit installed. Last time I had to do this, the owner kept the springs and I was able to undo it with the...

Buddy of mine has #498 and it's been a project for 10+ years. SHORT version: Wrecked circa 95-96. Wiped out one side. ALL sheetmetal is new genuine GM parts, except the bed, which came from Arizona and was bead blasted. New GM hood, doors, fenders, one rocker, back of cab and roof skin (had...
