knock at 5psi in new build

jskarateka this isn't the best thread to ask that question, use the search button & you can read for hours about CR choices in our engines. Leakdown on #6 showed about 20% " good " on gauge #1 about 60% can hear leaking through valvecover & throttlebody . Intake rocker removed.

knock at 5psi in new build

The saga continues Removed 10* timing , no change. Added 25% more fuel , got up to 7psi before detonation . Started looking for a mechanical issue. Pulled plugs, they varied a lot, so did a compression test. # in pic are cyl # & compression. Put a camera into every cyl. All pistons had...

knock at 5psi in new build

Can you explain more ? The RX7 build is difficult to check timing on, the AC delete bracket is where the timing light needs to be. I can see the 0 * mark , so use a timing light with a degree dial on it & dial down till balancer mark hits zero & read dial on light. Dont know accuracy of this...

knock at 5psi in new build

Been under the weather for last few days, worked on car today. Fuels been changed to a different brand, no noticeable change in KR. Checked timing w. light, it indicated within a few degrees of ECM. Flexplate & balancer are good & tight.

knock at 5psi in new build

Unfortunately you can hear the knock, so I think the sensor is doing its job. By memory the sensor was torqued to 12 or 14 #. Thanks

knock at 5psi in new build

Got rebuild done & now getting knock at low boost , 5psi. Only thing changed on new build is ; - compression up to 9.1 from about 8.2. - entire new fuel system, from 255l pump & stock lines upgraded to 400 lph pump & -8 lines. Knock starts rapidly at 5psi , whether at WOT or 1/4 throttle...

    Converter being difficult to install

Had friend come over & spin, shake etc to no avail. Tried a stock convertor & it dropped on in a few seconds. Its a TC from Dusty & the center spline does not have much of a taper leading into the splines . Removed trans. set vertical & it dropped on in a few turns. I believe the center...

    Converter being difficult to install

Will try CCW rotation. In neutral or gear make a difference I wonder ? Trans is still in car & was trying to keep it that way. But I think that will be the end result. Put a spare yoke on it, set vertical & then all splines etc will be in a " neutral" floating position rather than off center...

    Converter being difficult to install

I'm not an expert , but am thinking its not the pump holding things up. Looks like the pump only engages the converter about 1/2" deep. & it definitely needs to go in more than that. Unless the pump is the 2nd stage of engagement & then another spline goes even further on.

    Converter being difficult to install

Am trying to install a converter onto the trans (200 4r) but it will not go on all the way. Looks to be about 1" away from fully seating. These 2 parts have been together before for a few thousand miles, but have been apart for a couple years during a engine refresh. Have done lots of...

Melted 1 piston, replacement advice requested

Reading others stage builds it seams like 4.010 is a common size. Or is it better to contact a ring supplier & hope for 4.005 ?

Melted 1 piston, replacement advice requested

OK finally getting around to this project, thing happen slowly around here ! Con rods are 5.960 not 6.5 as advertised . Measured all bores, Some are around 4.002ish largest is 4,004 max out of round is .0015 on one cyl. Whats the usual procedure for ordering custom pistons ? Hone to...

sputtering , will barely run for a second.

Don't have access to the car at the moment, what is your thinking behind the coolant sensor ?

sputtering , will barely run for a second.

Car has Translator plus & LS1 maf. Unplugged translator & installed stock MAF & no change, still stumbles for few seconds & dies.

sputtering , will barely run for a second.

Turned cam sensor CW a couple times, no change. Just for my sanity, set cam sensor 180 out. Same reaction. Swapped sensor cap, no change. Sensor is getting 7.5V so module is supplying correct power. Put hose on fuel rail. Filled a gallon in no time, so there is plenty of fuel volume. Put...
