    converter out of balance?

    15 grams!! if the converter balance is out over 15 grams you'll feel that for sure. It's probably mis-balanced. Most modern machinery get the hub and the pilot aligned pretty good.

    Transmission fluid viscosity and converter stall

    using fluid to tighten converters, not loosen using a hydraulic oil like, john deere hyguard, citgo torque fluid and the like will tighten a converter from 200-450 rpm's (depending on the ratio to trans fluid). Whatever stall speed you have with dex 3 or type f is what you will have. Mike

    I've seen the end result! I've seen when your "on" it too long. Burns the paint of the converter and turns it purple. That was an extreme case with a 106mm that was never going to spool behind a pretty lame 4.6 ford. It works for the most part, but it does limit the converter charge...

    Transmission temperature

    Fuild Temp Fluid temp should go no higher than 185 F. Cooler temps are fine. Fluid should last 100,000 miles at 185, but go up 10 deg F to 195F and fluid life gets cut to 50,000. Every 10 deg F beyond 185 F cuts the fluid life in half. Mike.

    10'' all the way a 12'' at that stall speed is going to have negative fin angles (bent away from engine rotation)and a trimmed stator which will kill some efficiency. A 10'' at that stall speed is going to have real positive (bent towards engine rotation) and a stator that won't be trimmed...

    2 types the art carr non-lock valve is set screwed into the pump body and the only way to get it out is remove the trans, take out the pump, disassemble and remove the valve. the trans-go style valve will come out, but you'll need a pair of long nose needle nose pliers, barrel shaped...

    sounds like the non lock up sounds like the non lock up valve is still in the pump, even though the lock up harness is still in it. Hopefully you have the non-lock up valve that is the removeable type, then you can just stuff a lock up valve and spring in place of the non-lock up valve.

    If that were true about blowing thru the converter your rpm's would never fall back on the gear shifts. 3200 should be ok for a 61.
