    Amazing 1986 Grand National

After talking with my experienced Buick guys at the Northeast GS/GN club, I came to the conclusion that I overestimated the correct market value of my car. I had originally listed it on Hemmings at $64,500 but I have since lowered that to $55,000. I figure this leaves me some room for the...

    Amazing 1986 Grand National

I must sell my gorgeous 1986 GN. located in SW Connecticut. I am thinking of running an ad in Hemmings classified but thought I would try the forum first. This is a great opportunity to buy an immaculate intercooled Grand National with all the best original options PLUS a huge basket of...

    Which thermostat for E85?

I think that the clue was that the differential grows during colder weather. That would be because the coolant coming out of the radiator is colder than in the summer. And that is what your autometer sees, the built in sensor sees the coolant later.

    Which thermostat for E85?

I think you may be having the same experience I have with my 86.I have also the 160 thermostat but was puzzled when the (aftermarket) gauge would read as low as 147 on cold days. Then I realized that the aftermarket gauge was connected to a sensor in an alternate spot. So, I checked coolant temp...

    Constant 12V during crank?

Got the gauge working now. It's the Autometer vac/boost digital gauge. It is now producing reasonable numbers. However, I noticed that it seems to be consistently different than the numbers on my scanmaster. For example, the gauge shows a vacuum reading 3 less than the scanmaster. I suspect that...

    Constant 12V during crank?

I finally replaced the crappy Speedhut boost gauge with a new one. It calibrates to actual barometric pressure every time the engine starts. The instructions say it has to be wired to a 12V source that doesn't cut out during cranking in order to calibrate properly. Sure enough if you just wire...

    door guards

My 86 came with them. As stated Code B88 "Protective Body Side Molding" ($60). I did a wo year frame off restoration of mine. Deleted three options. Since engine was way worked I had already lost originality and so I made it my own. I did not repeat the "gravel protection paint along the lower...

    Help! 1994-1999 LeSabre Part

My son is getting into the Buick act. He just bought a 1998 LeSabre. It needs some work but we are having difficulty finding a part. It's the torsion bar that connects the two trunk hinges to make the trunk stay up when you open it. The original part number is 25677957 or 25677958 (identical)...

    Vacuum issues and idle questions

My GN is near stock. Modifications shouldn't effect idle too much as it is mostly at the big end. I have 60lb injectors and an LT-1 MAF sensor with translator. Engine is rebuilt less than 10,000 miles ago so everything is tight. Idles at around 875-900 at 18-19 vacuum reading. IAC was set at 10...

    Newbie alert. Moonroof question.

My powerlogger is set for AEM gauges. I worked with Eric when we set it up to make sure my config was correct. I think my 60 ft will only improve if I get the launch at a higher rpm. This weekend I launched at about 3,000 or almost 7 psi because I was used to the car rolling at the light if I...

    Newbie alert. Moonroof question.

I'm not sure where you are seeing 13.01. My read of the run looking at the wideband reading is that from the launch at 6.8 psi through the traps the Wideband A/f was between high nines and a leanest of 11.57 @99 mph. (The KR of 2.8 showed up at an A/F of 11.27. I wonder what is implied with the...

    Newbie alert. Moonroof question.

My log seems to show shift from 1st to 2nd at 20mph and to 3rd at 59mph. To my eye the shifts seem sharp. I am presuming that most of my 60ft time is in 1st. (Looks like about 1.25 seconds) During that period wideband drops to as low as 9.26 and is mostly below 10. To guard against knock I have...

    Newbie alert. Moonroof question.

Well the cooler weather arrived and I took my GN to Lebanon Valley Dragway yesterday (9/12/20) Track conditions were near perfect with temperature in the mid-60's and dry. This is the first time I got to see if my transmission rebuild and converter replacement by Dave Husek made any difference...
