whats needed to change a regal to a gn?

The turbo Regals have a stronger rear axle than most other G bodies, which may explain the rear brake line being different. The 12 bolt you have planned may be cheaper than finding a 10 bolt to fit- or maybe not. But heavier, and maybe a little stronger. Take a look at one of the sponsors-...

Most miles, and least miles, you got off a turbo?

My stock turbo had 180,000 miles on it when I sold the car, and was not showing any signs of age, like leaking oil, or excessive movement of the rotor. That was WITHOUT a dump valve, or blowoff valve.

HELP! Radiator and fan 225 degrees

No, it's not. Do a search. There are several fans in the aftermarket that are better than the stock fans, and some that can be found in the salvage yards. The first and easiest thing you can do to cool down that engine is to bypass the resistor in front of the fan. Just get rid of the "Lo"...

    sleeving the 109 block

That may be true. But one guy at least, is talking about doing all six cylinders, and then after doing a line bore. If you can buy a used block, and just clean it up, surely that's cheaper and easier?

    2,650 RPM Idle!!!

Check all the hoses, and make sure you don't have big vacuum leak somewhere, or air getting by the MAF. Do you have a scan tool? That would help.

    Alky - E85 - ethanol

THe fuel pressure regulator might be a problem, too, depending on how it is made. And there was a study just done at Stanford which shows that E85 makes for worse pollution thar straight gasoline! Of course, the corn farmers and algore are disputing this study.

    DS header cracked, best replacement??

You can buy replacement stock headers from Southeast Turbo. Then get them reinforced and coated however you want. They are cheaper than Postons- but you buy Postons direct from Poston, if you want them. They are not that hard to find... Welcome to Poston Buick !

Please help! GN 8.5 rear max h.p.???????

Hypoid gears are very efficient. It's true the higher pinion in the 12 bolt makes it more efficient, but you're talking about something like 98% efficient vs 97.5%, not a huge diff. It looks big if you compare "inefficiency" or losses- then its 2% vs 2.5%, or a 20% decrease in inefficiency...

How hard is it to turn my regal into a T

IF you swap the turbo engine and trans into a regal (or a monte) and don't change the rear end, then the rear end will fail, very soon. Unless you have a sick turbo Buick engine. Plus, you need the fuel tank, and some wiring harnesses. Easier to put in a V8.

Anyone ever gain 3-4mpg from synthetic?

The friction in the engine is just not going to change enough to give a big increase in gas mileage. Many, many tests have been run to compare friction with different lubricants, and the numbers just are NOT big enough to give the changes you mention. Mostly, the vendors compare HP, since in...

Machine shop problems...does it cost this much and how do you fix these problems???

"well they did use the stock bolts and they did go to 75 ft. lbs" The stock bolts are torque to yield, and they will yield before they get to 75 ft-lbs. The shop manual says to stop torquing when you get to 60. So, I'm not saying that the machine shop lied- but they may have made a mistake.:D

I need help buying a camshaft

"I personally think the stock heads are perfectly suited for the stock cam" I agree! And as Enzo Ferrari allegedly said "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races". Turbo Buicks have a nice, wide torque band, and it you overcam, or overport, you might make more power but less torque- and end...

Machine shop problems...does it cost this much and how do you fix these problems???

The stock head bolts won't ever get anywhere near 75 ft-lbs. So they need the studs. If they claim to have used the bolts at 75 ft-lbs, don't believe them.

    Thermastat

The thermostat does a couple of things. One, it regulate temperature. That's pretty obvious. The second function is to maintain pressure in the block. The water pump feeds water to the block, but it is like any other centrifugal pump. It will only function within a certain range, and if you...

    Rear Seat Brace Kit

"Out of curiosity do you believe in subframe connectors? It would be interesting to see you post the weak spots on a g body. Could be helpful for alot of us." Just curious. What does the question about subframe connectors have to do with G bodies? They all have full frames.

are there any other cataloges besides Jc whitney

JC Whitney has lots of junk, lots of cheap stuff, and a very small assortment of high performance stuff. The problem with them is figuring out which is which. The good stuff they have includes very little for turbo Buicks. Postons, on the other hand, has a lot of stuff for turbo Buicks. I'm...

    steel crank

"Stock" steel crank? I guess you mean stock stroke and bearing size? Since there was no "stock" steel crank for the Buick. TA performance, Weber Racing, Arizona GN, Full Throttle all have cranks, but there are only just two or three manufacturers for the forgings- in China, I think.

    Front sway bars

The 34mm hollow bar is probably close to the stock bar in stiffness, and is lighter than the 36mm hollow bar. You may have to dig into the F body forums to find out for sure which part number is the hollow bar- or maybe it's in the parts catalogs that way.
