    Selecting a turbo

The 49 is old tech but still a great turbo for a street car. 600hp GMC what, Syclone/typhoon?

    Running Rich

After you post the SM data, try tapping on the MAF housing while the car is idling and see if it has any effect. If the budget allows, consider a MAF translator and newer style MAF in the future, the car will just run better.

    Tps Tec

I’d compare it to putting my F150 in “sport” mode. It ramps in the tps voltage quicker which makes the vehicle ‘feel’ more responsive. It does not add any power, but I prefer the throttle response with it vs without. Buy a used one from a member here if you want to play with it so you’re not out...

    running E85 w/91 oct chip

If e85 is available in your area I would get Eric's e85 chip and never run regular gas again. Among other benefits, the tuning window is wider and thus more forgiving. Since your car has an alky kit already on it, you could spray a water/meth mix with a small nozzle on top of it and probably...

Problem with the tach not working

This is a 21 year old thread. Best to start a new one. But to answer your question, there is likely corrosion on the copper connections on the back of the factory tach/ boost gauge. Mine are pegged all the time as well.

Showing some love to the GN - Time for updates - Looking for Advice

If you have e85 readily available I wouldn't bother trying to run lower quality gas mixed in. Get a TT e85 chip and step up the fuel pump/ injectors to support it. You can dial it in easy enough with the chip by using the scanmaster and wideband data to have a really good running street car...

    Too big for my combination?

Your converter might be a little tight, but with those other mods I would run it and see. A little lag might help keep it from overpowering the tires on the street.

    N/A to Turbo Swap

Swap the carb with one of those efi throttle bodies that can handle boost, fab up a hot side with an ebay turbo, and build a fuel system to supply it. Expect to spend double your initial estimate, assuming you do all the welding and fabricating yourself. Then post the pictures here.

    Scanmaster data

o2 cross counts should be constantly moving as you are driving, as the narrow band o2 reports information back to the computer, which brings up my next point: get a wideband o2 sensor so you get a more accurate picture of what the car is doing, especially at WOT. AEM makes a good one.

    more T-stat talk

    160. No issue with condensation and the car rarely gets over 180 in the summer even with a front mount intercooler.

    Chasing KR still

Make a pull in 3rd from a roll. No OD or downshift to 2nd. Any knock at the top of 3rd?

    Still running terrible

Thanks Chuck. Funny thing is I actually have an eye doctor's appointment coming up, first time in my life I've needed glasses!

    Still running terrible

MAF sensor might be suspect as well. Try tapping on it while the car is running. How long does it run before dying?

    Chasing KR still

Passengers = additional load on the engine. Make sure it's not real kr.

    Crower cams 204/214

I put an Edelbrock 204/214 in my car about 20 years ago. For a street car I'm happy with it. Low end torque outside of boost seems good. I was told it's better to under-cam this engine than over-cam it.

    PCV Help?

Some parts I’ll spend top dollar on, but We’re not splitting atoms here, it’s a catch can. If it’s plumbed as I described, it won’t matter if you’re running 30lbs of boost or 300, the can is under a constant state of vacuum.

    PCV Help?

No, use the catch can you have. One with a breather will allow unmetered air into the system (giant vacuum leak). Fill yours with stainless steel scouring pads from the dollar store. The ones that look like a continuous spring wound into a ball, not brillo pads that flake apart into tiny...

    PCV Help?

Yes, run an extra hose from the unused fitting to the turbo intake pipe. You can get a 90 degree fitting from home depot that is barbed on one side and threaded on the other. Make sure the catch can has appropriate filter material to capture oil vapors in the air as it passes through. Most of...

    PCV Help?

I've tried a number of different pcv setups, here is what i currently run: PCV > non- vented catch can > turbo intake pipe. I drilled and tapped the pipe after the MAF but before the turbo. This way there is always suction on the pcv whether the engine is idling or seeing boost. There is no...

    Turbo V6 Camaro

I’ll check it out, thanks. When my LC2 gives up I want to swap in the series 2 with 102k miles on it, f body intake, gt45 turbo, and see how far 80lb injectors and a walbro 450 get met. Fuel will be 93+ a can of VP octanium per tank, with alky sprayed on top of that.
