Blue Upper Door Panels for Manual Windows

So, had a conversation with a retired Buick engineer who is a turbo guru. He said if the computer on my '79 turbo went bad, it would still run on 110 Octane racing fuel. Does this make sense? Dan

    Need mounting bracket

The 3.8 turbo in my '28 Essex Super Six came without any mounting brackets, so instead of asking on the list for used brackets, I made my own. As usual I'll do it my self and pay the money later!!!!! Duh. I need a complete set of mounting bracket for the original AC unit, alternator, and...

Holley spread bore story, boost referenced.

So, just to be different, I installed a Holley 4160 carb on the draw thru turbo. The major issue with the carb was the vacuum secondaries would not open on acceleration. In fact, it would die, !!! So after lots of questions , and no help from Holley, I sent the carb to Joe at All American...

    cracked head or manifold leak

OK, I have been chasing an exhaust leak and couldn't find where it was coming from. Then I had the AH Ha moment, maybe the headers are leaking. Just for the hell of it I pulled a plug and this is what I found. Now, could this be blow by at the spark plug, ie cracked head, or a leak in the...

    Installing J and S Safeguard

Ok gurus, as I look at the schematics of the J&S and the ‘79 Turbo, it appears that an NA dizzy is required. Once you remove the ECM, you are left with a dizzy that has 4 wires in a round connector . The J&S connects to the HEI and Has a knock sensor. Just the musings of a back woods country...

Using a Holley 4175 on a draw thru

OK, I know this question has been asked before, but my search in the archives yielded bupkis. Most probably operator error. I have installed a Holley 4175, 650 cfm, with vacuum secondaries on the 28 Essex, '79 Buick Turbo. So, what to do with the PEVR? I know there is a hobbs switch wiring...

I have a Holley Red fuel pump that is preset at 7 psi. Is that to much fuel pressure , if so, what problems will it cause. Having continuous issue with the carb that resembles fuel starvation. I have checked all other recommendations. Dan

Draw thru carb with a problem, HELP.

OK, it's been a while since I was on the list, however, I still lurk. The '28 Essex with the '79 3.8 Turbo is finished. The idle is at about 700 -850 rpm. I can accelerate the engine slowly by hand and all is smooth, however, when I put it in gear it wants to stall , the engine then has a major...

Need an update on PEVR connections

OK, the engine idles fast. Closed both mixture screws and makes no difference in the fast engine idle. sprayed WD 40 on all possible sources of a vacuum leak. No luck!! Could it be the PEVR is not connected properly?!!! The following link will not open...

    '79 V-6 Heilbron intabke (?)

OK, another wild ass question. Did anyone make an intake similar to the Hielbron fuel injection systems, Or perhaps a 6 stack intake for the early V-6? And you thought the '79 Turbo in my '28 Essex was different, just wait!!! oh yes here's one to think about, ever seen a '23 Red Bug, yes it...

Need ESC for my '79 draw thru.

OK, now that the '28 Essex is on the road, I have had the unfortunate issue of a broken/frayed/ mucked up knock sensor wire. So, if anyone has a extra ESC they would be willing to part with, I am in need of one as a back-up. It will go in that box of spare parts that you carry just in case!! Dan

So, I am back, 28Essex V-6 is doing great. Can the MSD 6AL BTM be used on the '79 draw thru. Looking for something more modern. Have had a couple of broken wires on the ESC that have been driving me to consider alternate forms of relaxation!!!!! Don't even ask!
