    Cleaning/prepping intake for paint?

careful with the nut shells Not exactly on-topic, but this thread rang a bell for me with the talk of aviation and walnut shells. I sandblasted and painted my intake... look so much better now. Bottom line is just make sure everything is as clean as possible. I retired after 20 years...

Any good hyd roller lifters other than clicky Comps?

I did the same as SpoolFool2... soaked the lifters for a few days. I turned the car over a few times with the fuel pump unplugged to get some oil pumped up into the motor, then reconnected it and fired it up. Took a little while for the lifters to pump up completely, but they have been...

Any good hyd roller lifters other than clicky Comps?

I got mine back together and running this past weekend. I think I had one of the first shipments from TA. Very nice lifters, just like the ones from the pics. Once the engine was running it took about 3-5 minutes for the lifters to pump up. Since then they are definitely an improvement...

How many active Texas members do we have?

David Hoosier, retired Army (last year), living in Crosby, working mostly around Beaumont. My stock MAF gave up the fight last February, so the T has been in the garage since then waiting for a MAFT Pro... looks like Santa forgot me, lol. Once I'm back on the road I'll be looking for some...

    Anyone looking for work?

If you are still looking for help please let me know. I retired from the Army last summer (20 years), then took a job in Houston. My job was "down-sized" in February so I've had enough time off by now! I need to start working again so I can buy m'self a MAFT Pro and get my '87 T back on the...

    Fuel Return Pressure?

Yep, took the gas cap off. I got a pretty good buzz off the fumes I blew out of the tank. It was my understanding that the CCs should change at every frame, ideally showing between 20 and 75 CCs per frame. Maybe I'm working off of bad info?

    Fuel Return Pressure?

Thanks again for keeping me in mind. Actually I sprayed a bunch of carb cleaner in the return line where it connects to the FPR and blew it out with shop air this morning. I did it several times, letting the carb cleaner soak a while before blowing it out, until the can of cleaner was empty...

    Fuel Return Pressure?

Ormand, Thanks for the reply. Sounds like it may be worth my while to try to rig a temporary by-pass until I get where I'm going. Dave

    Fuel Return Pressure?

I've been chasing a chronic Low BLM issue and just want to eliminate this as a possible cause. Can anyone tell me how much pressure it should take to blow through the fuel return line (the one going from the bottom of the FPR to the tank)? I connected a piece of hose to it and blew...

    Boost Problem? hmmm...

Did the "pop" you first heard sound more like a hose popping off, or a more like a backfire? I was guessing one of the boost lines between the turbo and WG solenoid because of the "pop". It could also be one of the other things I mentioned before. If all the hoses and lines are definitely...

    Boost Problem? hmmm...

Cutting out under acceleration could be a lot of things... vacuum leak, coil pack, plugs, plug wires, ignition module, crank sensor, cam sensor, maf sensor, etc. Based on the pop you heard I would look for a vaccum hose loose somewhere (most likely between the WG actuator and WG solenoid, or...

    BstC Light?

Thanks Salvage, I think I'll try your second suggestion first. Seems feasible. I opened up the case of the BstC a few days ago and considered soldering the wires "piggyback" with the LED connection built into the unit. I guess that's still an option, but I'd prefer the other option first...

    BstC Light?

I recently relocated my Boost Commander from under the dash to inside the console. I put an extra LED in my A-pillar in the hopes I could hook it up to the BstC to indicate when it is active; in other words, it would function like the LED built into the unit itself. I thought I could just tap...

    Huge improvement with idle...EGR block

Thanks for the good advice. I've been making incremental improvements for about three years like you have. I've replaced all the hoses, check valves, gaskets, etc and checked them with a hand-held vacuum pump, but I never tried cycling the charcoal canister solonoid. I'll add that to my list...

    Huge improvement with idle...EGR block

Vader, Did you do anything to block off the passage between the intake and the head, or did you just put the plate on the outside of the intake? I'm only asking because I just put the plate on where the egr valve was and I'm still having a slightly rough idle/poor milage, and puff of...

    slippage? (long)

Sounds doable, I'll call your shop Monday and give you my cell number. What is a good time to call you there?

    slippage? (long)

I should be able to get it out by then. I'm actually in Cherry Hill just off of route 38 across the Ben Franklin bridge from Philly. How often do you get down this way, or would I have to come pick it up when it's done? I'm only asking because I don't have a truck to haul it in.

    slippage? (long)

I'm pretty sure the TPS is good. I replaced it less than 70 miles ago while I was getting the engine to run right. Now that the engine is running right I guess I fried the trans. I just can't win, lol. I could see where the TPS would make it not want to shift without letting off, but that...

    slippage? (long)

Thanks JD. I think you're right. I guess I'll have to try to find a good trans shop around here. Does anyone know of any reliable 200R4 shops reasonably close to Philly?
