    is 40 psi enough?

Do you have scan tool? Adjustable regulator? Could be a million things from bad gas to MAF to vacuum lines to who knows…. 40 psi with vacuum off? Which chip? What year car? 40 should be enough to idle but need to find issue before you drive it. Could try to unplug the MAF and see if that helps...

    109 Crankshaft needed, options? availability?

It's not supposed to stick out, I'm not sure how I installed it like that without noticing it wasn't seated fully. I've since learned that the 109 block #1 cam bearing journal is grooved to pass oil to the valvetrain so drilling smaller oil supply hole in the #1 cam bearing (per Power...

    109 Crankshaft needed, options? availability?

Machinist is concerned that this bearing is drilled / clocked (per BPS/Ruggles) with a grooved block and not fully seated perhaps leaving a portion of the groove open to bleed off oil pressure. Any thoughts on this? Any way this related to #1 rod bearing failure above?

    109 Crankshaft needed, options? availability?

What do I want clearances set at? I was going to reuse stock rod bolts... Main and Rod journals on this motor was measured good for standard size replacement bearings. If I rememer right, I checked the bearing assemblies with plasti gage for .002-.0025"?

It was not hurt. Running, maintained, not abused 100k stock motor when disassembled and refreshed. In hindsight....

    109 Crankshaft needed, options? availability?

Can anyone suggest what to look for with this starved #1 rod bearing on a fresh (basically stock) shortblock? Motor is at machine shop and we want to make sure we find the cause and correct it while when putting it back together. Where does it's oil come from? Maybe I need to repost this since...

Paint stains from cover, need removal advice

Buick Mark, thank you, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts here. My factory lacquer was already checked and showed issues when I got the car it 88. I've been trying to kick the "paint" can down the road as long as possible, but I realize it's a losing battle. I've never heard your suggestion...

    109 Crankshaft needed, options? availability?

This is exactly what I was supposed to run, but something went wrong with oiling it seems and fouled a rod bearing and some of the others don't look so good. So now we're evaluating again.

Paint stains from cover, need removal advice

My sentiments exactly Chuck. After reading all the complaints, I guess I should have known, mostly about fit and service. Hopefully nobody here puts their GN outdoors under one of these. Not only did it react with my original paint, it looks like it leaked quite a bit even though it had a 10...

    109 Crankshaft needed, options? availability?

Great input guys, thank you. I guess it will depend on if there is a good used one available here and the price, then I can compare the gain for cost. But I'm thinking the stocker won't offer much savings, and how do I know if it's been exposed to detonation. I remember reading about replacement...
