Help! odd problem- ugly startup, then runs OK until hot, then stumbles and backfire

Well it seems it was the cam sensor. The "key" on the ring inside was broken and it was floating around in there. I didn't get a chance to road-test it tonight, but it started right up.

Help! odd problem- ugly startup, then runs OK until hot, then stumbles and backfire

Battery is a year or two and cranks the car solid, immediately. Alternator is original with 25K miles. Voltage is OK at idle but just to be sure I will check the DS again to see what it was before the stall. When it stalls it starts right back up again though. thanks and keep'm coming

Help! odd problem- ugly startup, then runs OK until hot, then stumbles and backfire

This is aggravating me for several weeks...basically since it got very hot outside. 87 TB On cold start it gives me trouble: starts right away but very ugly stumbling idle for a minute or so, then it settles right down to normal. I drive away and everything seems fine. As it's...

    Methanol Sources

Now it's $4 a gallon for the meth and the 5 gallon pail costs $10. It's actually pretty easy to get to/from I-80.

How to remove intermediate steering shaft?

Nope this started as a seemingly simple job to replace the bushing up where the intermediate shaft connects to the column. It has a little play in it which actually may be normal but I figured for an hours work I would change it.

How to remove intermediate steering shaft?

Mine too. The manual does not show the boot as a part in the breakdown, plus it looks like it's pressed into the crimp. I've seen universal boots at the parts store ("HELP" type parts) for CV joints, my guess is you can find something that way. If I manage to find something I'll post...

Minor clunk felt in steering wheel

Update- I removed the retainer(black) and retainer clip, leaving the bearing adapter(white) floating inside the housing (not easily visible in picture). There didn't appear to be any wear on the bearing adapter yet there was a little play so I removed the adapter and gently clamped on the...

How to remove intermediate steering shaft?

From the Buick service manual procedure, it would seem very easy to remove the intermediate steering shaft (between the column and the box). Unfortunately mine is not working out that way. :frown: Has anyone done this before and tell me how they did it? TIA! Mike

Minor clunk felt in steering wheel

I have a very minor clunking feel in my steering wheel, particularly as I cross center on the wheel. When I shake the (intermediate?) shaft in the engine comparment right by the D/S heads I get a corresponding clunk at the retainer area just outside the firewall. See pic. The lower bearing...

    Low Alky Light testers wanted

Agreed on both counts ;) I'm an EE so I was gonna fix it myself but I have embraced the bug as a useful feature :D ;) One change I made was to use a 'super bright' yellow LED for it and mount it in the open so I don't miss a blink.
