TA-60 and stock convertor?

Can I run the ta-60 turbo with my stock convertor? I understand you can with a ta-49 and since the ta-60 is just slightly bigger I thought it might be possible. Thanks, R.B.

I run a te-60 with the stock converter. A little bit of lag but its not horrible. Is there any difference between the te and ta besides the compressor side?

All I know is the ta is stock appearing. Anybody else have conmments on the ta-60 and stock convertor? Will I be ok with it? Thanks, R.B.

No problem with that combo however a slightly modified convertor does help. I run a te-60 with a D5-2800 stall.

I wonder if the tiny bit of lag using a TA60 and stock converter would make it easier to get my car to hook on the 275/60 DR's?
Then maybe make it up on the big end with a couple extra mph?
Thoughts?

It doesn't work for me. Stock verter and te-60. As soon as it catches up there goes traction. Not on dr's but on 295/50's. I wish that would work for me though.

1of1035,
I'm going to UPS you my drag radials so that you can see what would happen with a stickier tire. ;)
But seriously, how bad is the lag with the TE60 and stock converter?
I think that once the car is rolling I won't have a problem keeping traction with the big tires and Metco arms and ATR rear bar.

Its really not all that bad. I took a turbocharged civic from a roll 3 times in a row and those things spool quick but not much of a power match;) I just get too picky with things. Its not really as bad as you might think. I got a set of et streets but I can't run them everyday. The car sees about 40 miles a day so I used the 295's instead. But i'll take a set of free tires:D

With the ET streets on the car how is it?
I'm hoping that by launching with a couple psi the turbo would spool OK.
Comments?

rb68rr- Not trying to hijack your thread...I was just wondering the same thing and you posted right before I did! ;)

The car hooks ok with the et's. I got them for free so there is some wear on them and the track down here doesn't do s**t to for prep work. They just spray water in the box and thats the prep for the night. I'm putting dual bags in the back soon so that should really help with traction. I'll let you know how it improves.

Anybody else out there running a ta-60 with a stock convertor? How is it, really? R.B.

i have a 10 inch 2800 stall converter with a ta 60. the only reason i got the 10 inch is cause i had the wrong converter in the car to begin with. it works out pretty good. the stock converter is also 2800 so i would say youd be alright. it would be nice to have a 3000 or higher but i also drive ythe car a lot. :D

I have a te-61 and a stock converter

and it's just a touch on the laggy side. I don't notice it really, man when the boost comes on though hang on. Try contacting NCTURBO on this board. I was unsure myself, but NCTURBO told me not to worry, and it turned out great. :D

i ran my ta-60 for a while with the stock d5(2400)stall,it wasn't bad at all.

i now have a pts 9/11 2800 stall and it comes on pretty friggin hard :D.

i will say that your chip/tune will have quite a bit to do with your spoolup.keep it as lean as possible on the bottom and she'll come right up at ya:).

Running a TA-60 with stock convertor. Lag is noticable between this and a stock turbo, but not that bad. I had a TA-61 on the car before and the lag was bad. Really didn't like driving the car with it on as the boost took forever to build in normal driving compared to the TA-60. Guess there is a 1 1/2 tenth difference between the 60 vs 61 at the track on high boost. I'll live with that.
