Is a Turbobuick considered a Muscle car?

Was having a conversation with a buddy the other night and we were going over Turbobuick’s. His opinion is the muscle car era ended in 1972 when they went to low compression engines. But I think the Turbobuick is a muscle car maybe the last. His opinion a Turbobuick is just a 80s performance car and a v6 is not a muscle motor turbo or not. Do you guys consider a Turbobuick a muscle car if not what do you categorize it as being.

I’d say it’s not a muscle car. It’s in a league of its own. For its era it’s untapped potential would bring shame to almost every “muscle car” ever produced. Not saying you can’t make the muscle cars move because you surely can. A big block with good heads was the standard for decades until forced induction started to really take over. The people making the argument usually have a 14 second pooch. It’s got 500hp blah blah. The reality is more like 350-400hp and it won’t et for crap the way it is. Go to classic car shoes and check them out. For every 9 second muscle car theres 300 or more mid 14 sec pooches

Buick is in a class all of its own. Had some guys say the same thing to me, my response was. This Buick is not a Muscle car but more of a Gentleman's Ass Kickin machine that will surely hurt your Nova's feeling. :ROFLMAO:

Well I guess this will settle this argument for once and for all! ;)
I bought this on e-bay....so there ya go!
This proves it !

I have a lot of car guys in my family and not a single one consider my GN a muscle car and I really don't either, but I wasn't into cars other than when I was 15 I got to go for a ride in an 87 GN and I fall in love with the acceleration. Especially considering my cousin had an 87 vette and too me the vette wasn't nothing compared to the GN in the performance I liked Then in 1991 I got a chance to ride in a modified 87 GN. I know that it was running an aftermarket chip, but as far as other mods I'm not sure. It was even quicker than the one in 88. From 88 until I bought one, I was telling anyone that would listen that I was going to buy a GN. Performance was one reason, but the fact that it had a v6 and the body style made me love it even more. I liked the GN/T because they didn't really fit anywhere and I've always been that guy who goes against the grain. Just to get a reaction out of people, when they are showing off their sports/performance car, especially v8, v10 or v12 guys, I always mumble my, my Grand National is faster.

Maybe Jim Wangers and John Deloren will check in and give their thoughts since they invented the "muscle car" ;)

I use to have much respect for Jim Wangers until I saw an interview with him crying and bitching about how Buick never should have been allowed to develop the Turbo Buick. What an asshole. Him and his bad wig REALLY made an ass of themselves.......:ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO::LOL:

Mustangs,Cougars,Cudas,Dusters,Challengers,Javelins,Firebirds, and Camaros are Pony Cars. Corvettes are super cars. Midsized Sedans with big power are and always have been and always will be Muscle Cars. The last muscle cars made in America were the 1984-1987 Buick turbo Regals. There were many cars made in America that weren't midsized sedans and were and are very muscular. They're just not Mascle Cars.
BING BING BING.......we have a winner!

Maybe he just forgot to take his ex-lax dosage that day. :D

Does it have muscle?? Check , Does it look like a muscle car?? Check, Did it perform like a muscle car?? Check
It was the last of the old school cars with chrome or bolt on metal bumpers which we have not seen on a muscle car since...It was unique in that it was a mix of new technology and old school rolled into one

Yeah, Wangers comes off as a jerk saying that. Of course this is the guy that sent out a 421 ringer 64 GTO for the press. Nice wig.

He was probably mad because it wasn't the grand prix. If he had been with buick it'd of been the greatest thing since sliced bread and peanut butter.
