86 from my old man, it's been sitting for 8+

Is pops acceptable? If it makes you feel better I'm 31 and he refers to me as "the boy" haha (don't want to upset the car gods, this beautiful piece of machinery is my life)

if his Dad has not driven the car for 8 years maybe his is an old man. haha.

I could not leave the car for that long without driving it.

like taking a kid to a candy store

Be fair he bought his dream car, '07 viper. (let the amusing rebuttals begin haha)

Awful pictures but she's home. Not gonna lie, been doing my research with great suggestions from everyone. Just gotta get the stones to do it and hope I don't mess it up. No idea how to get the injectors off. Also, any recommendations for a new fuel tank and pump. Don't know the first thing about hotwire kits. Easier the better.

This thread here outlines the basics very well......

First you need to start with you father to find out all information he can give you, as too what's been done to the car.
Only thing was replaced the exhaust, just changed up the pipes. Everything else is stock and regular maintenance. I have new plugs and new plug wires. I'm trying to follow the spring cleaning list. However touching the transmission worries me haha I'm going to clean the intercooler with O2 safe carb cleaner. Can I use kerosene to clean the fuel tank?

Keep it stock. Except, some items just will need upgrading, like fuel pump and the chip since todays gas you can't run as much timing as the stock chip has in it.
What is involved with changing a chip? Do you recommend a good tank and pump combo, I'm lost when it comes to hotwire kits.

Changing the chip is pretty easy the ecm is located passenger side kick panel.
There are many options you can do it all depends on what you want

if you can find the factory shop manual on line it will be the best purchase you can make IMHO.

The two blue binders? Service manual one and two? I own those. I think I just need to continue to learn terms and what not. It's like reading another language. I'll come back when I've learned more haha I appreciate everyone's help though.

That looks like a carbon copy of my GN when I got it 3 years ago. It wouldn't even do a burnout when I got it. Couldn't even turn one tire just a little. The first thing I did was the following, Hotwire kit from Racetronix, Adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a Chip/injector combo from Turbo Tweak. I also did MSD wires and NGK plugs. I also got rid of the factory air box set up and replaced with a nice K&N Filter. After those important mods the car would light the tires right up and make full power. It even ran a solid 13.80 on stock tires with no launch. That's where I would start. All of those things are really easy to do they just take a little time and maybe $500-800 bucks.

I ended up with delco plugs and ngk wires. It's all original. Found an oil leak and what looked like coolant in the air filter yesterday. I did haul it 4000km (I'm in Alberta Canada) so I guess fluids could have moved around. I dunno, today is clean the intercooler and air filter k&n. Hasn't run in 12 years so I'm gonna attack the tank and pump this weekend too. Gotta research hotwire kits. I know nothing about em.
