New posi unit thoughts?

Possibly Chinese manufactured gears & bearings if that matters to you.

A good center section from Eaton is $500 by itself, not even including everything else. I'd go elsewhere, this seems like some Chinesium bullshit made for people trying to rebuild the rear in their POS Malaise Era dog on the cheap, not a performance kit. The stock ring and pinion on our 10-bolt rears can take a TON of power. Stock gears will take you into the low 10s easily. You can save money by just inspecting your ring gear when you pull it apart. Usually they don't really warp or wear, they just break. You can pick up a Richmond bearing kit from Summit or Amazon for around $100-$150, an Eaton Posi center section for $500ish, and some Redline fluid for around $15-$20 a quart. If I were you, I'd get a c-clip eliminator kit from Strange (they have the part number listed at GBodyParts for street cars, I think it's Strange A1033), a 30-spline center section, and 30-spline Strange or Moser axles to match (Around $250 for a set of 2) because you'll already be in there, might as well make it better all at once. You can call Moser or Strange when you get the axles and ask them what bearings you'll need if you want to, too.

Do it right and install a Ford 9". All the aggravation of taking it apart and putting it back together......fuck that...... Do a 9" and be done with it. Plug & play...

I’m using a Eaton tru trac and it has been awesome . Got the center section and some 30 spline axles with c clip eliminators. No issues so far :)

For what its worth, I have a friend who bought an eBay China posi and has made probably over a hundred passes on it. Heavy car running low 11s.

Richmond gears here with Moser axels and a Motive rebuild kit with Timken bearings. New seals from Rockauto. As for the posi Eaton would be the way to go, I used a Auburn unit I bought for 200. No issues as of now, just a few more break in miles to reach the recommended 500. Don't do what I did at first and over think it.

Going the same route. Just pulled my rear today to start building it

Just ordered an Eaton 30 spline carrier and motive gear set.

What is wrong with your present 8.5?
The old one was making a whining noise and had a lot of filing in it. The gears were starting to wear pretty badly. Clutches in it were also getting very weak.

I still need to order axles. Are the c-clip eliminators worth it, or can I just go with a c-clip axle again?

Thanks for the expertise and recommendations.

If you want to be legal and run in the 10s at the track you should do c clip eliminators

Keep hearing that C clip eliminators leak.
Strange has a street version that supposedly works much better. That's what I'm using in my rebuild right now, I know a couple of people that run them with no complaints.

I haven’t had any issues with mine I believe they are the regular strange eliminators. I was worried about the street miles 5,000 so far and no issues no leaks
