It looks like there is more than 6volts going to the ECM, If I unhooked the knock sensor.....what else can cause 14.4 degrees of timing out of the motor and the check engine light code 23? Theoretically if the knock sensor is unplugged shouldn't it not pull timing, eg) thats how they...

:mad: Hey guys, I put in the motor I had bought from Chris and hooked everything up....put the new bearings in and each was clearanced at .0015 with plastigage.... However, on startup the car built about 60psi of oil pressure and then shortly after throws code 43....esc failure/engine...

No, didn't dissassemble turbo, the machine shop put a piece of expandable foam in the exhaust housing to ensure no shavings got into the compressor wheel.......

Heres some pics of the turbo.....check out the milled actuator hole! I can only imagine what it would have looked like if I would have done it with a carbide bit 4" inlet 3" outlet and now correct actuator hole size...1 1/8th which is just about an 1/8" under the THDP...

The bottom of the pan just had some shavings in it, figured it was from a new motor, breakin...... The motor rolled over fine, just tough due to compression...... I don't know the clearances set on the motor, I am still waiting on a reply from Chris.... Thanks, Mike

Thats definately not good news:( Hopefully Chris can give some insight on this as I believe he assembled the motor from what he said, and here is the add showing what was done to the motor and that he would stand behind it..... 1987 3.8 gn motor,.030" over with forged trw pistons,resized...

The interesting thing about it, the crank doesn't look scored too bad...... here are the pics a couple of rod bearings..... And here is the pics of the crank itself..... Thanks for the help..... Mike
