Knock Retard processing speed Stock ECU vs JS box and keeping it alive

Sorry, I just saw your question. This is a very extensive update, so there is no simple upgrade. You would have to buy the new version. I moved the main harness connector to the rear, making room for "Knock-Finder" LED's on the front panel, as well as knobs for nitrous retard and rev limit...

Knock Retard processing speed Stock ECU vs JS box and keeping it alive

I recently updated the Vampire unit, adding a rev limiter. To install, no wires are cut or intercepted. The three "control wires" splice into the factory coil signal wires. I posted a demo video a couple days ago:

    Hi pontiac 301T

I think the misfires were causing engine noise due to uneven firing events. This probably caused engine noise that was interpreted as knock. I don't see how fresh plugs can clean up real knock.

Excellent, thanks very much. What is the thickness?

Knock Retard processing speed Stock ECU vs JS box and keeping it alive

On another note, I blew myself up on the speedtalk forum yesterday. It's in a thread about changing the rules for the 2014 Engine Masters Challenge. The rules state that knock sensors are prohibited, so naturally, I suggested allowing them...

Knock Retard processing speed Stock ECU vs JS box and keeping it alive

Kevin: Thanks very much for your support and feedback. I am still waiting to hear from sscamino. The last time we talked he said he was documenting the installation. He ran into problems installing the three channel Vampire. On paper it looked so easy, just splice the J&S control wires...

XIM COP, BB COP, distributer, what works best

While searching last night, I found a reference that said the thermionic effect was worth about 1kv: http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?p=158750#post158750 In their example they figure a 2kv difference. Not very much, but it should be easy to verify with an ignition analyzer...

XIM COP, BB COP, distributer, what works best

In other words, the cylinders that were previously firing on negative high voltage are now firing on positive high voltage, and vice versa. I remember reading about the new Holley EFI. They claim for waste spark it has more dwell on half the cylinders to compensate for reduced energy due to...

XIM COP, BB COP, distributer, what works best

Ignitions with distributor and single coil, as well as coil on plug, all fire with negative high voltage to the plug. With waste spark ignition, half the plugs fire with negative high voltage, the other half with positive high voltage. Has anyone reported that the three cylinders that fire...

Kevin posted some results a couple weeks ago: http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/threads/hi-pontiac-301t.368915/page-6#post-3282042 Recent report from a NA water boxer (water cooled VW) using a single channel Vampire: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=563283&start=0

Kevin's unit is still in transit. Tracking shows it took six days to get out of SoCal.
