I just got done with this exact issue! Mine was the forward bolt on the pickup tube had come loose and allowed air into the suction side. It was very sporadic which was strange but once I replaced the gasket and locktighted the bolts no more issue!
Hello all. I've been out for the last couple of years due to family but things have settled and I will be there April the 8th. Looking forward to getting back into the community!
Hello all, We have all been there. Get started on a project and all the sudden life or family forces the latest project to the back burner. In my case we had pulled the motor to solve a falling oil pressure issue. Found that even with a girdled bottom end that I had flexed the crank enough to...
Thanks for your service! One other tip, break one of the old rings and use the edge to cleanout the crud from the bottom of the ring grooves. Like most here, I have done the same and much less to just get by back when I was young and times were tight (not tight I was BROKE!!!). I once replaced...
What he is referring to is the direction the rods "face". This is due to the offset shoulder on the big or crank end of the connecting rods. Take a close look and you can see
that there is an offset to the big end that faces the counterweight closest to the rods position. Good luck you should be...
HR parts poly mount on the drivers side and pitch the ratchet strap. Also look if the chip is that old it "probably" doesn't have the street manners of a newer one. I and many others run Turbo Tweak chips which would give you another benefit of being able to just pull some timing in the range...
When I got mine the rubber grommet in the center of the hood at the base of the windshield would make some crazy sounds( squeak, vibration) and one day when looking for the noise I had oil on my hand when I touched it and no more noise!
Also spent untold hours looking on the Syclone and finally...
I guess I'm just getting old but I can't get into the whole black wheel thing. I guess I just think there should be some kind break between the black of the tire and the black of the wheel.
There are so many things that can make crazy noises on a boosted car. On mine the upper to lower plenum gasket was leaking directly under the throttle body only under boost when I got it. That's what let to the pressure testing. Found the upper to lower intake bolts were just loose. It only made...
With two sets of head gaskets and no change in the noise prob not the issue. I would pull the MAF pipe and check the turbo for play and/or wheel to housing contact.
Another thing you can do IF it gets that far, is to pressurize the intake. Let me know if you go that route as I have made an...
Just as a note. I used a reputable engine shop locally and just spoke with them about what clearances I wanted. They had no problem with the paperwork that I provided with all the factory clearances. One thing I did was to have them not assemble it as I double checked everything and assembled it...
