Coolant temp idiot light stays on, on start up.

That's what was strange about that connection; the wire would pick up coolant in the center, not leak outside. Look at the ECM for signs of coolant in it.

Coolant temp idiot light stays on, on start up.

Early 84 cars had a problem with the 1-wire coolant temp sensor. They'd fail, coolant would work its way into the ECM through the wire itself, and cause damage to the ECM connector. Check to see if you have the 1-wire sensor instead of 2 wire.

Problem with the tach not working

The original LEDs are long gone and obsolete, so the next best colors were chosen. They're much more efficient than those 80s LEDs and will last forever.

Problem with the tach not working

If the tach display and/or boost display goes to full scale or close to it, the unit is defective and needs to be rebuilt. They all will fail in this fashion eventually. Genetic defect causes this to happen. Caspers Electronics will repair it, or offer a replacement part. Read about it...

Alternator Refuses to Charge. Need Help

Alternator Refuses to Charge. Need Help

The alternator uses only one wire to excite the field, through a dash lamp. The other input in the regulator uses direct 12 volts, which is how they bench-test it. They don't test it with the lamp input, which is why some of them don't work out of the box. Use only Delco parts, you won't ever...

    A/C and power steering delete

Use a Delete Pulley as shown. For the power steering, I'd recommend leaving the pump in place, but take it apart and remove the vanes. Fill the bearings with grease, re-assemble without hoses, and use a 6PK1605 belt. Removing the pump will put less belt traction around the driving crank pulley...

    Drained Battery. WTH?

Also, disconnect your underhood light, trunk light and glovebox light. Any of these will kill your battery if they malfunction and stay on.

    1987 gn Wire harness question

You'll need an analog dash harness, a stock 87 engine harness, a headlight extension harness, and a body wiring harness that extends to the back of the car. Chances are, your body wiring harness is OK since it terminates under the dash and extends to the rear of the car through the drivers side...

REALIZE this is a Longshot ........

No problem. If you send the dash my way, I'll get it 100%. Power supply board needs to be soldered in, and taking the old one out is tricky, but if you can do, it'll fix the issue. Display board has its own issues as well. John

What do you need? I can supply anything for the digital dash system.

    Electronic Touch HVAC-control unit

I built a tester many years ago for diagnosing the control head and blower module. Haven't used it in years though. If a power transistor fails, it could cause your issue. Other component failures, like capacitors, can cause similar issues. But it sounds like either the ambient temp sensor or...

    Casper’s Hotwire Kit Issues

The Caspers hotwire kit was designed for a single in-tank pump. If you have two pumps in parallel, you need to separate them and run two separate relays, one for each. Your fuse and associated wiring is being pushed beyond its design limit, which causes excessive heat. When the fuse holder...
