Okay, since now you understand that flow and efficiency are a trade off in any type of filter. Enough on air filters. Back on the subject of the Cruz adaptor...
I would recommend a racing oil filter for the people who have modified oil pump and timing covers, who mostly run their car on a...
As I just stated, I’m playing around with a Wix 49896. I’ll let you know how it turns out when i get my intake back on. If I had a filter factory in my garage, I could build custom filters for everyone here. But I don’t. So I’m working with parts available. I work for Mann-Hummel, but since I’m...
Well that is a tricky question . I had a k&n for a long time, but always ran a foam pre filter. Wix isn’t really into the aftermarket high flow filter business. More so OEM quality replacements. So, I am currently working on utilizing a Wix 49896 air filter. We built this filter for Ford...
It all depends on what you are trying to do. Most TRs should use the premium Wix or Wix XP. In some high pressure or even dry sump applications a racing filter might be necessary. Also could be advantageous if using heavy weight racing motor oils at high volume.
To answer your question, the...
Guys, you are correct about the 51060R racing filter is for "Racing applications only". It is a higher flow filter which reduces restriction in order to free up horsepower by taking strain off the oil pump. This is the same media that we use for most of our NASCAR teams (Steward-Hass...
If it’s a track car use the 51060R. If it’s a new motor for break in or a street car use the 51060 premium Wix filter or a 51060XP for the synthetic media version.

I'm not sure I understand your question. One of the ratings is determined by what is called a Frazier test. This is a way to determine CFM/ flow of a fabric. This test is generally more accurate than a micron test since fluid has no particular shape or size. But you are correct, pressure...
Pacecarta is correct. We only recommend that filter for racing where your oil gets changed often.
But then again, isnt it funny that every one seems to care so much about particle filtration when it comes to filtering only 5 quarts of oil? But when it comes to the air side of things, which...
I did some checking the other day. The filter you are currently using is basically the largest for the biggie adapter. And we don't currently make an XP in that size. Most oil filters have an internal bypass. If you are running a pump with the relief blocked, your motor could see high oil...
Ya man, same cross as pf52. I guess I worded my post wrong. I accidentally made it sound like it's something new. I've been using it for 4 years since I bought my car too. I just wanted to post about it bc I keep seeing people ask about biggie adapters, and I read posts about people cross...
A 51061xp might be a tad cheaper because it won't have the anti drain back valve. Which is not needed if it's mounted vertically on the block and could save you a a little $. But if it's horizontal you will need the 51060xp.
pacecarta has got it right.
XP is a new product, not replacing the premium 51036/napa 1036. Just add XP to the end of the part number (51036xp) if you want to go that route, OReilly is now stocking most of the common sizes and their DC has all of them, so they can order it for you if needed...
