  • Dusty, I am having my transmission rebuilt by Jason White (Jackson, MS). He said you to contact you about a lockup converter. I have a 87 GN. I want a tight one but efficient on the tight end. I am ready to buy. Is there a number to reach you? What do you recommend?

OK. I'm really covered up during the day with a project. Currently putting in 72hrs a week so I'm not real easy to get in touch with. When you call today if I don't answer, just leave another message with your phone # and I'll get back with you.
Dusty, I just joined the website. I was told that you and Patrick were the ones to talk to about choosing a Turbo. When you get a chance can you please take a look at my thread.

    Thanks,

    Mike
I got my air dam from Sam Collalilo. I'm sure I mispelled his name but he can get you the air dam. I get all my wide bands through Hartline. The last classic fast system I worked on had a bad o2. She sent me a universal calibration file and an o2 sensor. The new file allows you to use the cheaper sensors.
dusty were do you get the one piece front air dam for our cars? I need one and do you know who has the best price on wide bands for the old fast setup?
    thanks richkibler@aol.com
    Hi Dusty,

I sent an email through the PTS site to you today re: a converter recommendation for my combo. If you don't get it, please let me know so I can PM you with the details. Thanks!

If you can do the 0-1# boost stall test it would help me give you some advice.

What your experiencing is very common with the lock-up converters. When they spool very well, they are very inefficient in 3rd gear. When they run great mph, they don't spool very well. I'm betting your current converter is something like 3200 stall at 0 boost.

The only way to have great spooling and great efficiency is by going to a non lock.
    Hello Dusty,
I hope that you are doing well. I currently have a stock heads and cam 1989 TTA with 18K miles and the stock rpm shift points. I have a TE60 turbo and 009 injectors with Razor's Alcohol kit. I have the stock 3.27 rear end gears. I currently have a 5 disc Vig converter that I just put in to replace my 2800 ProTorque. I was very happy with the ProTorque but it would not spool the TE60 very well. It seems slower now that I put the Vig in as it never quite seems to "hook up" I have not done the "0" boost test but it is considerably looser than my old ProTorque. My questions is do you think that your PTC 10" in 3200 stall or the 9.5" would work better with my combo. I do not drive the car much so mileage etc is not a concern.
Thanks and have a good day,
    Don
OK. That won't be a problem. My cell # is 256-303-5387 whenever you get ready to order. I take credit/debit cards or money orders.
Once you nail down a range of where you intend the shift at. I can spec the converter. Basically I'm just looking to see if you plan to shift in the 6000-6200 range or if you plan to go up into the 6700 range. My suggestion would be something in the 6000-6200 range with a 70mm turbo and your engine size.
