Not saying you cant build one to take the grunt but at what cost? The amount of hard parts you need to keep one healthy compared to a basicly stock 80e is not worth it. With the glide in ours it doesnt even feel like a 2 speed. Ive run 9s off the foot brake taking off in 2nd.
what did you use for the 80E conversion? Just a TH400 adaptor? The 60E are a joke over 400hp. We went straight to a glide. 80E be a good idea for a street car thats for sure.

Cranks are damn tough. 800whp isn't a problem as long as the tune is good. I've been 8.81@158 so far using a stock (not even machined) crank and block. Just forged pistons and china rods. The cross bolted mains and deep block design is very strong. As you stated the only issue is the head...
I could do a stock coil on 28psi at 500-600hp but no way at all could I do it on 28psi at 850-900hp. Not all 28psi are the same. What I found using stock ignitions is you tend to have to lean the mixture to get a clean fire. With a cdi I can fatten up the mixture and make more torque.

That is our quickest to date. Went 8.9@152 so I added some boost then 8.9@154 then more boost 8.9@156 and a little more, 8.81@158.
Had more mph in it but couldn't get it to go faster ET wise just the mph kept climbing so gave up that day lol..

87%dc at 50psi base pressure. Id2000 injectors. Think they are 210lb rated. Car went 158mph with a lot of tyre turning. Dont know what hp. I want to turn up the boost but dont want to put these injectors up in the 90% range. Afr is 10.6-10.8 consistantly. I guess easiest fix is to just bump fuel...

What are you guys using for 2 sets of injectors?
ATM have id2000 at 87% duty @50psi.
I have already upped pressure from 42 to 50 to get more ceiling.
Debating whether to move it higher or move to 2 rails.
Advice?
Id remove the boost control and tune it on just gate pressure first to make sure it aint a gate issue. You may not have enough spring pressure to hold the gate shut at higher boost pressures.
Im using china spec h beams at close to 800whp. Good tuning keeps them alive. Matt Stattama has been 8.65@158 with the L32 rods.
Dont really have any better sources for rods than you guys do. Zzp, mace and PPM all sell the same china rod for $600 od dollars.
