Hello,
I put a Dusty's 3000 stall NLU converter in my TTA. It works awesome and I love the combo. The problem however is it now shifts at about 4400 rpm when I leave it in Drive at full throttle. I can manually hold it down in gear and shift it at 5200 rpm but I really miss just being able to...
It is not that big of a deal. I went from a lock up to one of Dusty's 9.5" non-locks. You have to pull the retainer cage out of the front(converter side) of the input shaft and remove the check ball. I also purchased a non-lock kit that goes in the hole where the lock up solenoind goes. It has a...
Thanks Dusty. I just posted and did not read your reply prior to my posting. I did try to manually shift it at about 5200 rpm and it worked great. Thanks for your converter and great advice.
Dusty Bradford here on the board sells the converter. Performance Torque Converter is the name of the company I believe. The 9.5" NL works great in my application. No complaints whatsoever.
I just put in a PTC 9.5" with a stock bottom end TTA and I noticed that the shift points when I left it in drive were noticably lower. (around 4500 to 4700 rpm). What rpm do stock short block TTA/Gn's usually shift at for optimum 1/4 mile performance? I hope that I did not hijack this thread...
The older guy,(I am sorry for calling him that), Dennis and the other local Buick guys get together once in a while and it is always a good time. Jason and the Local Buick crew are top notch guys and great to be around. We have quite a few of us buick folks here in the SLC area.
I have a Precision Vigilante 5 disc lock up converter that was installed and then a higher stall was needed for the combination. It is about a 3200 to 3400 stall and has fewer than 20 miles on it. This will save you big dollars versus buying a new one. My loss your gain.
