Too much positive camber with BMR A-Arms

Quick update. All R&D is done, prototypes confirmed on test car. Apparently the next step is getting everything operationalized, tube jig and cad work for top plates all done. Was told the laser shop was backed up, so not sure when the production parts will be ready. Not great news, but...

    Fix for Heavy Steering??

Oh please god no, don't let that be it. I don't have the tools to check the PSI, hopefully one of the auto stores will rent one. The PS pump was a nightmare because I couldn't find a pump/reservoir unit. Pulling the old one out of that 35 year old thin metal box was terrible. Not sure if it is...

    Fix for Heavy Steering??

Recently replaced everything in the steering system and it's heavier than before, to the point of being annoying. Everything includes: Innner/Outer tie rods Center link PS Pump Steering Gear Jeep Steering Shaft Reused the pitman arm and center link mount on the passenger side (the ones from...

Too much positive camber with BMR A-Arms

I should say they "redid" the geometry on the new jig after confirming it was incorrect. My understanding is they had a design modification with a new top panel and created new jig. They had the correct geometry on the old design but somehow didn't get it right on the new one. I actually asked...

Too much positive camber with BMR A-Arms

Quick update, BMR did the geometry work and built the first set of new upper arms. They are waiting on some laser cut panels that should be in by 08/27/2019. From there, they will finish the fab work and test them on their car. :crossesfingers:

Too much positive camber with BMR A-Arms

Turned out the upper arms were a new design and the welding jig was set up incorrectly. BMR confirmed the issue by installing them on a test car, so that is good news for me. Haven’t got a lead time on when they’ll get the new jig set up, so not sure when I can get the replacements...

Too much positive camber with BMR A-Arms

Ending up calling them, seems like a cool shop. Getting a return label and sending these back. They offered to reimburse the full price, but I'm asking that an inspection be done first. The product seems very high quality and I don't want to go through a whole new search and a whole new vendor...

Too much positive camber with BMR A-Arms

Got the alignment done, just told the tech to keep it simple since I knew it wasn't gonna be permanent. So really he just did a basic check and fixed the toe. Not in spec, but again not permanent. Still shows that with way less shims the car actually has more negative camber than the spec asks...

Too much positive camber with BMR A-Arms

@MaxVO2 , agree that they seem like they must be for a different car. The quality of the parts themselves seems very high, the welds, webbing and power coating all look great. Also, they came with the Energy Suspension bushings all pre-installed and stamped Made in Murica. I definitely had high...

Too much positive camber with BMR A-Arms

@captrob , no joy on the offset because crossbar is symmetrical. Also, looks like there is something screwy with the ball joint angle for the uppers. Not sure if defective or for the wrong car. :sigh:

Too much positive camber with BMR A-Arms

Okay, so this was a PITA but took the Right Side apart and got a bunch of measurements. Looks like this was destined for failure because the uppers are physically a bit shorter...but functionally a bit longer. Doesn't make sense, but what matters is the distance from where the arm mounts to...

Too much positive camber with BMR A-Arms

@Chuck Leeper , they are equally confused. Because the new arms are shorter I should have got some free negative camber. @No disintegrations , good call. I tried weaseling a tape around the components so my measurements aren’t perfect. I’ll try using some string to get a more accurate view of...

Too much positive camber with BMR A-Arms

Recently installed the full BMR suspension kit, including new upper and lower A-Arms. Took it for an alignment and had three issues: Too much positive Camber Inner Tie Rod Sleeve stuck Upper Ball Joint installed on wrong side of A-Arm The toe is all jacked up because the sleeve between the...

    Adjusting Power Steering Belt

I found I had to adjust the bracket itself because of the same clearance issues mentioned. There are three bolts and a nut that need to be loosened before the bracket will move. Nut on the back that rides in a long slot Two bolts on the front left that ride in little half moon slots One bolt...

    TPS sensor

Been using this one for about six months with no issue: STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS TH41 Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): 17069532, 17111471, 19143600, 213904 If you look at the picture on rock auto, it actually shows an outline of the where to slot the holes. Not sure why they charge three times...
