HI FOLKS. Researching and obtaining input for this project. Looking for somewhat of a "one off" paint shop to do the work. I want a "Very Nice" product but NOT Show Quality. In other words, I don't want to lose sleep if driving, and some road debris chips my paint. I don't want the GN to be in Paint and Body Prison, while the shop cranks out insurance work and the GN sits untouched.

See my post in the forums "The Body Shop" for my latest research.

Anyone hear about or use Gongora's Paint and Body in Pomona (on Holt Bl.)? What about Lowry's Paint and Body in West Covina (on San Bernardino Rd.) ?
I called Santini's Paint and Body in Westminster and was not impressed.

Thanks in advance for the Input!! Merry CHRISTmas as we all are extremely blessed.

I was thinking of stopping by that place in Pomona and checking them out.

Have you heard anything about them. I checked them out on the Better Business Bureau. They've been in business many years and have no complaints.

I haven't heard anything. But I just need a easy fender repair. I see alot of nice cars there.

Let the Painting Begin! For the next several months my 87 GN will be in a local paint shop having pieces removed and painted after taken down to bare metal.

I'll be posting frequent progress pics and info. If you like what you see and hear, I'll direct you to the shop.

Sounds great!

The GN is being dismantled.

GN sanded down to metal, quarter windows and body side moldings removed and filled. Slow and methodical.

Good luck with your project, John!
Now the fun starts!
Getting it straight is going to be a major project.
Anyone betting on how many prime/sand/prime/ sand trips it will take?
I'm doing a 55 Chevy that'll be straight.
So far, 3 gallons primer, likely 150 hrs of guide coat sanding, bondo, etc.
Still have at least 2 gallons left to sand off onto the floor!

Checked on progress Friday July 7. GN has primer. The body is being sanded and blocked for imperfections. Paint Maybe this week.

GN is progressing. Hood and trunk getting attention. Taping of non-involved areas. Paint maybe this week.
