Feedback about roller camshafts

Right!
And the aluminum heads the op is looking at will cost more than that alone😉
Are you saying the ported aluninum heads with the stroker and 64-66 turbo with the right cam won't combo? What are your thoughts on the champion iron heads versus the alunimums?

For a street car that will rarely see the track or do hard core street racing, iron heads will do everything you need them to do. Ask Dynoman.

Ported iron's will do anything you need them to do and be much cheaper . Champion irons are CNC ported , nothing a good head porter can't do . The ported irons will not be your bottle neck and flow more than enough for 700hp . My car in the video has all of the parts in my signature and can be a hand full on the street . Ask the guy on a 600 crotch rocket that I smoked in a 50 - 130 mph roll race by 5 car lengths ....... and I gave him the hit !! Watched him in the rearview banging gears !

Are you on a stock crank and rods? I didn’t see them mentioned in your sig

The 64 turbo cannot max out a champion ported iron head.
All you would be doing is spending thousands of dollars that are not needed.
I have been trying to keep money in your pocket this entire thread 😉

Stock crank & rods . I believe the weak link is the block . I know of one motor with stock crank & rods that have been at over 800hp for an entire season , with lots of races and driven regularly .

OK. So how does this combo sound to you? Ported Champion iron heads, stock ported intake. GN1 stroker kit, 109 block with billet main caps, 114/114 cam or 115/120 cam, 28-30 pounds of boost with the 64/66 turbo. and David Husek transmission and converter.

Looking like a strong build as long as you put good pistons in it😉 that wont cost a ton of money😉
You could and I would recommend you go milder on the cam and that would require less spring pressure and cost less, keep the lift under 530.
We have a stock crank and rod motor here with a 210/210 cam, girdle and a 64bb that makes 800 on champion irons and beehives and a stock ecm😉
Low cost build $4500 and has been together for what some would think way too long😉

Spring pressures I'd be looking for more than 200lb on the seat with duals or possibly looking at beehives.
what valve springs are in this seat pressure range for these cars? Several posts on this forum where PAC1201s recommended for roller cams on these cars. IIRC, PAC 1201s are in the 130-150 lb seat pressure range, 450 lb/in. rate. Some builders claim the PAC1201's spring pressure drops following break-in. Other stated options: Comp941s, K-750, PAC1218 or 1203 - set-up and application dependent. i don't recall seat pressure at 200 lb, tho would be based on set-up

Have a look at PAC1222X. 180lb@1.8" and just over 200lb @ 1.75"

Thanks for all the feedback. You guys have convinced me to run the 64/66 turbo with a David Husek transmission and converter. Now the issue is finding a camshaft.
Definitely do that. Dave is the man and a 6466 is a better turbo for a true 9 sec full weight street car. Yes a 62 has gone 9s but that’s not easy.

@Mr.Spool

At what HP level do you recommend a girdle if one stays out of KR. I'm referring to a 109 block. TIA
I usually dont really recommend girdles( and I have nothing against them)because I prefer caps and
I have had those take a 109 all the way into the limits on the 109.
I recommend caps right when you decide pistons are needed for real cylinder pressure.
It all helps if someone wants to spend the extra on the girdle it's all good.
But I would rather hard block it at that point.
If tuned on a few girdled motors that did great so they do help.

dont need very high spring pressures with the lift below 550 and you can get only so much lift out of an iron head.
Pretty cost effective vs double springs and in concert with running a mild hydraulic can be very very low matinence.
And still produce enough power for 9s.

All valid points on a street car!
I was thinking about max perf efforts.
My bad.
On a MAX PERFORMANCE application, I make the lift about .050-.090" or more than max port flow lift. This is because the valve is only at max flow lift for a millisecond at high RPM, and making the lift higher allows the port to attain its maximum flow for a longer time, resulting in more top end power.
OK! Back to the street car world.....

I found a roller cam that's machined for the Danny B drive but Danny B doesn't have anything. Does anyone have any Danny B parts?

Check T/A Performance. They had cams and parts a while back for the early nose conversions.
