Feedback about roller camshafts

The stock short blocks in these car are incredibly durable...with zero KR. Bison ran several minutes of 9 second power through the stock botton end in his blue car before it finally cracked a piston across the top along the piston pin line. He also cracked the 9's with a 6265.

BTW I have watched your channel a lot. Lots of good content on there.

I know you want to save your numbers matching engine, and I understand that. What I'm getting at is this. You don't have to throw a boat load of cash at a high dollar engine. I also understand that you're only gonna hit the track once or twice a year. Faster than 11.5...and you're gone...and it takes very little to go quicker than that. I don't see the need to spend that type of money when it isn't required when you're gonna be shown the door at 11.5. If this is your dream engine, then I'm very understanding of that as well.

I know a few people with the PTC 10" lock up. IT slipped high at the end of the track. The PTC 9.5 NL is night and day better. If you want a LU then the Dave Husek converters have gotten good reviews.

But the big problem is going to be finding a cam. Bison had some recently but those are probably long gone.

I apologize to everyone for the ADS, and I DO NOT receive a nickel from the channel. I did NOT monetize my channel. When I first started the channel I had control over running ads or NOT. About 18 months ago Youtube changed their policy and I no longer have control over ads. My apologies to everyone.

If you go back to what I said I never mentioned I wanted to run a certain ET or build a car to meet a desired ET/MPH. What I said was Patrick at Precision says the 62-62 turbo is more than enough turbo to get into the 9's if someone wanted that. I only said that because you said the 62-62 wasn't capable of doing that. That's all I meant by that. If my car sees the track it will be to make one pass here or there if I'm at the track for a car show. By no means is this car meant to be competitive on the track or to be a track car. I raced Mod Motor Mustangs for 15 years and I was the first Mod Motor car into the 7's besides John Mihovetz. I been there and done that already. I know what a car takes to run 9's and deep into the 8's even. I don't want to do this with this car as its too nice. It's very a very clean car, absolutely spotless inside and out with only 38K miles. I don't want a roll cage or drag suspension in it as this car will be handed down to my 14 year old son someday and if he ever wants to put it back to stock and sell it for big money some day.

With that said I am all ears about converters. thanks
Ok
Never said the 62 isn't capable of running 9s
I said you wont do that😉
And neither will most with a buick v6 guys😉
Because in reality it's really not enough turbo for a full weight combo.
I dont care who runs it and has gone 9s with it.
Heres the cheatsheat=
To 98% of the cars with 6262 turbos it's really a solid 10 sec fast spooling turbo on a full weight gn car on what I would consider moderate boost ranges below 30
There are plenty of guys even in this thread that run bigger better turbos and haven't got there and there is a reason for that.
I went 10s on a 58mm cast turbo(49) decades ago
And yet I dont recommend that turbo for a 10sec car.😉
The reason= it's really hard to do and
Much easier to run 9s with a bigger turbo.
6262 turbo for 650 rwhp well I've seen some magical things on a dyno on different platforms🙄
when it comes to dynos your goal of 650rwhp again is most likely not going happen.
I posted what you needed earlier and if your serious it's there.
It's a alot of change.
See 650rwhp or 9 sec is the same power😉
The weight changes the et😉
Sounds like you have a nice car and want to pass it down and already had fast stuff and dont want to turn it into a race car.
So dont😉
Many in this thread have given you good advice
If you want a good lockup converter contact dave husek.
You will also be needing a trans when you hunt for more power he is a master at the 200.

Reading your post
I would highly suggest you keep the car a bolt on car and keep it in the 11 sec range.
Maybe get another gn or ttype done already turn that into a stronger build.

Your exhaust system on these car makes a big difference in sound . The video you posted was Bobby Slusser's car with the dump open . Here is a video of my car , 206/206 cam , duel 2.5" ATR with Pitbull mufflers , converter from David Husek . The car runs low tens @ 129 mph.

Looking for a new roller camshaft for my new engine winter project I am building.
The motor you're describing... a stroker with aluminum heads. It will tend to soak up more cam duration. If I were building it I'd be looking to 220+ duration with 114 LSA. At least 9.5:1 compression (+10.5:1 for me) only reason I would go lower would be if I intended to use legit flex fuel and run on 93 when needed.
I'd expect this motor to run through the traps well over 134mph at 6200+RPM when using a reasonably good torque converter. If using a regular 62mm compressor I'd pair it with a larger 66 turbine with a .85 housing. Spring pressures I'd be looking for more than 200lb on the seat with duals or possibly looking at beehives. It'd probably flash the converter at ~5200RPM. Shift around 5900 or 6000.

Many options to consider when completing a build. I'm running the 212/212 comp hydraulic roller. Also had a 206/206 at one time in same engine. Running Champion ported irons. I love the low end power of the 212/212. That would be my vote. I let my car shift on its own. Shifts are 5300 and I run it out the back door at 6000. Power throughout all RPMs
Thanks what turbo were you running and how much power?

Thanks for all the feedback. You guys have convinced me to run the 64/66 turbo with a David Husek transmission and converter. Now the issue is finding a camshaft.

Ask Dave about a cam , he had a couple with lifters ............ not cheap though !!
