I have another question, the a/c has been out for a few years so replacing everything but the evaporator and using 134. Will a
new piccolo type condenser work well enough? What switches should be changed out from the R-12? Does the evaporator collect enough
to need flushing? Have all the parts but the condenser. Thanks.

The most important thing to do is find out were the leak is or leaks are. There is no reason to replace a part that functions properly. Most of the oil will be in the compressor, so if you change that to a new one, you might need to add some. If the compressor or anything else is leaking and has been for a long time, you will find a greasy dirty mess where the refrigerant and oil are leaking. The most common leaks come from the front seal of the compressor or where the rubber lines connect to the aluminum tubes.

If piccolo type is this design, yes, it's worth it. I use them with Vintage air kits.
Here's a description.
I always flush the evaporator on any system that's been open/inop.

I've checked all over the country, literally at about 30+ places and no one has a parallel flow one. The closest I've come is Original Air in Florida, if you send them yours they'll make one ($$$). May have a line on a new original type one so beggars can't be choosers.
I always run the car with a/c on during storage once a week and left it going and came out 30 minutes later and the compressor was howling and stopped turning on so figured it must of ran low or out of freon and found an area about 6"x6" on the condenser with dirty-oily residue so it deserves new components after 35 years.
Evidently tptb are phasing out 134 by 2024 and replacing with a new now flammable gas. Gotta love the stupid of these idiots. what could possibly go wrong there.

In other news, Indiana is the latest state this week to pass constitutional carry starting in July.

Will ny be next! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

KC , if you're interested there is a guy on the west side who is an expert on automotive AC . My dad and many other shops around town would use him for AC problems . He would come to the shops and work on them there . He's a good guy and won't give you anything you don't need . Just had him do a complete HVAC system duct work and all in my sons house . Let me know if you want his number , and he's a big 2A supporter . Sam

Thanks, leaking at the condenser. Just waiting on that part.

Ga too!
The bill is headed to the gov's desk today or Monday.
I have my CCL and will probably keep it.
Could come in handy when crossing state lines.
I still have the PPK I carried when I was with one of the abc's.....
Never leave home without it. ;)

Don't forget the spare mags. The Utah non resident permit is nice to have and cheap-easy as pie to get.
Need to renew every 5 years but they make that even easier to do.
