Revolution X 9.5 NLU Converter

To put some closure to this thread, after much consideration I ended up with a billet version of Husek’s 3521 which just arrived today. Thanks to all who replied and PM’d with their valuable input and experiences with the various converters being considered.
Nice, post back how it works out.

The converter will be installed same time with a new motor so unfortunately no back to back testing with just a converter swap.

Anybody else order a RevX 9.5 NL and have it come in way too tight? I have a TE-45A turbo and was wanting around 3300 @0 PSI but I'm getting 2600@ 0 PSI and it has major lag now.

I am running Dave Husek 9.5 3521 converter it stalls to 3000 @ 0psi. His 3021 is basically the same as full throttle converter. He chose his 3521 for the larger turbos 66mm or bigger I am also running a Te45a. Can you not send it back to full throttle to have them loosen it up? Good luck.

I first thought my 9.5 RevX converter was too tight on a footbrake but it's right on spec using trans brake.

Something that stalls 3300 @ 0 boost is going to be a fairly loose converter. I usually get 2600-2800 at 0-1 psi and then around 3200-3300 with 5 psi and will flash 4500+ at a WOT hit and full boost depending on the boost. I'd be worried a 3300 @ 0 will blow through it with enough boost.

I’m watching this thread close, I had a converter that I think was to tight. I put in a converter from my parts car that had a 45A turbo it was 3000@ 0 and it was to loose for me. I did not take it to the track it might’ve fixed my 60 foot. And ET Ok

But it was no fun to drive in town. I will say it is a Texas Art Carr from 15 years back maybe older. It is claimed that my parts car went 10. Something so it appears this was the right converter for him, but it was not right for me. More proof that converter is a key to our combos.
I trust FT can get it right he just mist it on his first try.

I'm sure I can send it back, just a pain since I just got the new trans/converter installed. I'm building a new engine so I'll probably wait until this winter when I have the engine out to have the converter restalled. I've also been thinking about swapping to a faster spooling turbo so I may do that and leave the stall alone for now.

It's actually a precision 6676E.

I agree with you that thing needs a bunch more stall. I'd say 3500 minimum at 0. The FTS is never going to be that high in it's off the shelf form. That's going to need a much looser pump/stator combo which is more of an outlier for the Buick world. 90% of FT Buick customers would do fine with the Rev X shelf model they send out.

We are running a Husek 3021, 2600@ 0 psi. Flash to about 4500 on foot break, coupled around 5000. 212 comp cam shifting around 5700. It’s spooling an old school te45a with a precision 63 just fine. Even on the street is quick to spool. It’s a lot to do with tune also. Pump gas/alcohol car here.

Sell the 6665 and get 6262 would be perfect with your converter based upon the numbers you gave us. 6665 is big.

You say major lag now. What converter did you have with the TE45a before? What is your build?

It shouldnt be that terrible unless you have the Gtq version of the 45a.

think it might be bad .. that’s recommended for a something around 62 turbo. Journal 6665 would be a turd... If it was the Ball bearing T-66 with tiny Garrett housing might not be terrible.
