Right now I have a stock ecu and I’m looking to upgrade. I mostly street drive my car. I would say I’m a novice when it comes to tuning but would love to learn. What are the pros and cons of each? What does the 2.0 offer over the sportsman’s?

If your car is mostly street driven there is no need for an aftermarket ECU . Save your money for other upgrades or ..... repairs !! An aftermarket ECU will not make you go faster , I'm in the low 10's with the stock ECU . Add a 6.1 wideband chip , wideband O2 sensor , Powerlogger & Scanmaster and your all set . Easy to tune !!
Post up your mods in your signature , it will help us help you .

I know it will not make my car go faster but I heard the drive ability is noticeable. Also when factoring I’m buying a scanmaster a powerlogger new chips a MAF translator you are close to the same price as getting one of these XFI ecu’s.

Also how do I post my mods in my signature :ROFLMAO:

The difference is about $600.

If you haven't considered:
Installation cost of the GN-ECU is lower and much simpler, and it has quite a bit more features.

I plan on installing on my own and I know the sportsman’s is a bunch cheaper so what does that extra $600 Get me and would I even use all the features with being a novice to the tuning world.

I'm running 10's on a stock ECU and a Turbo Tweak Chip and some damn good parts. Street driveability is beyond good.

Save your money. Buy good parts.

I believe the sportsman doesn't support low Z injectors.

It all depends on what you want to do with your car, if your going to just cruise around your neighborhood and get on it once in a while and do car shows there's no need for a after market system, but if you want to tune certain things in the future and monitor every aspect of the car and see whats really going on all the time and you have some sort of a budget i would look into the GN-ecu over the Fast... Read through some of this thread

If you have the money, and you want to learn how to set up an aftermarket ecu, by all means do what you want. Plan on getting good sensors, even though not required, but that would apply to any setup. By all accounts it seems the ecu-GN is the way to go. With the growth potential and the plug and play capability the ecu-GN has an advantage in the long run in my opinion. Everybody has a different way of doing things, and since it is a hobby, and since it is your car and your money, do what INTERESTS YOU. Be informed and have realistic expectations. Just don't piss away the kids Christmas money on your toys:LOL:. When my current stuff breaks or gets too difficult to support, an ecu-GN is in my future.

I am thinking about going back to the stock ECU.
Can some of you experts provide real tech vs opinions when it's time to switch to an aftermarket ECU, to help make the decision to revert back?

Wanna trade your aftermarket ECU with my stock ECU:ROFLMAO:

Stock ECU = No brains, No headaches.........

I myself was thinking about an aftermarket ECU but in reality won't be doing much racing anymore. Well at least not for a while, an occasional 1-2 times a year to the track only.
So if Stock ECU is most likely best for now, what setup is best for Stock now a days? Just a chip and Wideband???? Translator???

I also don’t go to the track often and mainly use my gn as a weekend cruiser but if you lay it out with how much money it cost to get the basic gear you need to read what your car is doing it’s just about as much as an stand alone ecu. Scanmaster=$200 wideband=$200 boost/temp/oil gauge=$200 MAF/translator=$200 optional powerlogger=$250. With just that you are over $1k. So it’s confusing when people say the stock stuff works... we all know it works well but at the end of the day I would think you would want something with a lot more tuning capabilities (stand alone ecu). Am I crazy?!
