Motor mounts

Well once again I learn the hard way. I should have put the good motor mounts in a few years back, but went with Autozone cheapos. I’m tired of looking at the motor shake semi-violently and want to swap them out. Anyone have a set?

Call HR Parts and get theirs and never have to change them again.

Damn they are expensive....I will wait a few days if any show up on here! If not, I will drop the coins. Thanks-

I just moved and am having a house built, I’m in an apartment. It won’t be for 6 months, my furniture is in a storage facility awaiting my house. I have no jacks or equipment until then. My car is in the parking lot with a cover due to not having a garage to park it in. I start it up 2 to 3 times a week minimum. I don’t drive it......

Basically, I have time.

I’m going with the HR ones, maybe someone will post up a set for sale

They must of cheapened them up considerably. The ones I bought there probably 15 years ago were made in U.S.A. and are still going strong. Don't people complain that they get way more vibration with the poly ones. Hows the trans mount. That's transmission, sorry.

You've confused me.

Are you talking about HR Parts 'n Stuff's mounts, or parts store mounts?

The only thing that would have changed in HR's mounts is the durometer of the polyurethane. Power levels have gone up, I wouldn't be be surprised if they upped the stiffness of the bushing material to go along. Or maybe they didn't and people just get on the internet and bitch too much these days?

Do they transmit more vibration to the car? Yes. That's why they last. They don't move. Nobody makes a quality rubber motor mount today. The OEM ones are all gone. Everything is Mexican or Chinese, and they don't use a higher durometer rubber like GM did for this engine. You're getting the same mounts as they sell for a 110hp 2bbl carb 3.8 V6, because it makes zero sense for them to make a special set of mounts for us. As a result, they won't last.

Yeah, the Advance Auto ones. Took the old one when I went and they were a perfect match. Lol, the boxes had a lot of dust on them.

I used on one of mine 1 stock mount on the passenger side and an HR mount on the driver side for years. Not too much vibration transmitted, but good steadying of the engine.
On the high powered cars I just use 2 HR mounts. I'm used to the slightly more vibration. Plus more balanced rotating assembly helps too.
I think Paul at HR has a softer durometer available for less vibration as well.

I will call them tommorrow. I just don’t like the idea of a mid-matched anything much less motor mounts. Seems to me the motor may sit crooked

Engine sat straight with the different mounts.
Can't go wrong with both HR mounts either. You'll quickly forget about the slight increase of vibration.

There is a reason we used to use tie down straps with the stock mounts...I have the H&Rs in both cars. Definitely more vibration (I have poly body bushings as well) but I wouldn't use anything else.

I’m not understanding here, you got more vibration with the HRs?
