Dilemma: Heads or Turbo.

I want to think everyone here for all the Head info. I see mostly everyone likes Aluminum over Irons. And I get it. But i'm on a "Budget Build". And i'm gonna put the BEST in my build. But can't afford the BEST of the BEST at this time. My goals are mid to low 11's. Maybe High 10's. And i know you can run these number's with an unopened motor. But if you had a $1000 to spend on the two. What route would you take. I currently have stock heads and running a te44 with other mods. But i could get my TE60 Turbo rebuilt and purchase a TT Chip and 60lb Injectors for $1000. Or find a set of good P/P Irons ready to bolt on for roughly $800 - $1000. And just run my stock Heads and 42lb Injectors. And i know everything is personal perference. Just need some input. Thanks John.

You'd need a convertor to match the 60 turbo. If it were me, I'd get Powerlogger and dial in what you currently have. Hint. If you're not tuning low gear fuel and low gear timing...then you're leaving a shitload on the table.

I have a 2800 stall. And i have a PL on the way. And Bison has my 60 Turbo. Just waiting for an answer from me to rebuild or send back.

Tires and shift kit will also be needed if not yet installed.

How old is that converter? Lots of strides have been made in converter tech in the last few yrs.
What do your time slips splits look like? what does it pickup for mph in the second half of the quarter?

I don't think that is accurate.

Is your engine apart at this time? If the heads are off, or you need to replace blown head gaskets, good time to either have the heads ported professionally, or at least clean up the ports yourself. Plenty of porting info on the 'net. Study the info & proceed cautiously.

Converter Prob 7yrs old. Just had Trans. rebuilt and converter checked out before motor took a crap at the track. Cant find time slips. But i think the last run was like 13.3 at 114 mph.

I realize many are quarantined, and need to stay busy but here is some good info.

damn scoob you went from the sweet innocent doggy to the sinister Joker

Yes and No. With all that being said. I was just asking the question about spending a $1000 on this. Or a $1000 on that. Because when you spend $$ on this. Someone alway say. You could have bought or spent that on this or that. Just trying not to waste $$ on things I might not need. Or could have had something better.

In the last thread I was trying to save you 2000 to $3000.but the way that thread went money wasn't an issue.i also told you where the limitations were.let me try again to help you,you are wasting money doing a turbo or heads to run your mid/low 11s.your stock heads and 44 will get you there.i hate repeating myself.now if you want to run high 10s different ball game, see if you put the squeeze to the motor that much there is no room for mistakes.my advice again keep what you have and get the car to run a number dont throw parts at it.put your 44 into the 11.5/20 range and call it a day.if you want to head to the 10s it's going to cost and no room for errors.
