Looking for a set of P/P HEADS. Whats a fair price for P/P IRONS. And P/P Aluminum Heads (IF there DONE RIGHT). Some say save your money on Aluminum Heads and just get some Nice P/P Irons. If i'm only shooting for mid to low 11's. Thanks John

Thanks. I fig since the motor is getting built. I would add a little more power to it by adding some p/p heads. But that's roughy an extra $800 - $1300 to the build.
Yes. You do need the heads.

I just don't understand why everyone wants to be a hero. Make it easy. Get the heads. Irons will do nicely.

Besides, never will it be as easy and cheap as when the engine is getting built.

Yes. True. Since I can't find anyone to P/P my head's. What's the norm for buying a set of P/P irons

Ok. Thanks
Is J. cotton a member here. Or does he go up under another name. I've already reached out to Bison. Haven't heard anythig back yet. Also, if you buy some P/P Irons. Can you run them on a stock intake. Or would you P/P intake first. Or does it really matter.

Porting the heads are not needed at this performance level.the boost number needed to to run those numbers will change that is all.those times are achieved by bolt ons with the right guy leading you in a few hrs time.the transmission will be your biggest hurdle at that level.with good tire and learning the car mid 11s without killing the wallet is achievable

You can run ported irons on a stock intake, the stock intake is good way beyond your power level.jack is good people and has been around buick a long time.

Thanks. Since I have to have it built. I fig I would add a little extra hp by adding P/P Irons. Trans was built with around 200 miles on it before motor took a crap. And i was going to buy some street/strip tires for better traction. I've always raced my other toys with slicks. Don't know how tuff these rearend are. Didn't wanna rip it apart with true slicks.

put the slicks on;)your limitation is in the turbo, like i said your boost number will change if the heads get ported, the same power needed for mid 11s could be achieved by adding more boost.

I guess we have debated this topic in the past. And I agree with you completely. If it was me, and I had a second TR that I was tinkering with, I would never throw heads on a perfectly good engine just for the sake of running mid 11's. My experience would easily allow me to get to my goal as I have done this in the past. But not everyone is like me or you. And we know most can't count on this web-site for help because every other day it takes a shit.

So, I just don't think a guy who has his motor out, and can afford a nicely prepped set of heads with the supporting mods, who may not have the technical skill-knowledge, and may not have the working environment or tools, or physical capability, or tuning skills, or may want his car to be able to make adequate power at more street/octane/heat friendly boost levels, should spare the few extra dollars just to prove the point that so many have already proved before him.

My thought, He should make it as easy as he can reasonably afford.

i see that you are in georgia .. commando racing might be a closer option for you ...they are in savanah ..and have a good reputation... with our cars ... no need for a ported intake unless you have ported heads ... FYI...

yes we do agree there,i had 2 nearly identically setup gns here a while back on 49 turbos one had ported heads other car unopened.at the dragstrip the ported head car went 11.5/60s at 21/22 psi the unopened motor did the same at 25/26psi.60fts where the same although the unopened motor needed a little more boost on the leave.inmo 4/5 psi of boost which is a bullshit number anyway;)is not worth 2500 to 3000 extra dollars.
