vendors said many years ago that I'd never find an OE NOS replacement WITH THE LIP SEAL because, they never found them. if you do a part # lookup, a result thru supercessions is 25558394. THAT IS JUST WRONG. some vendors reference that part number for their aftermarket product. I have that *8394 part in hand thru this project, and it's too short. the ends come pre-glued and the weatherstrip had to be stretched to attempt to install it. it tore within 10 minutes of installation returning to its original, unstretched state. Not surprising as additional research yielded the *8394 part is for the following:

Buick Lesabre, Pontiac Bonneville, Oldsmobile Delta 88 royale, Cadillac Deville, Deville touring sedan, Funeral coach, Fleetwood d'elegance, Fleetwood sixty special, Fleetwood limousine, and Fleetwood brougham (FWD) for the U.S. from 1985 to 1991.

I am convinced that GM made a database error in the early 1990s listing the *8394 part for the 86-87 Regal trunk weatherstrip.

After searching on and off for many, many years (since 1992 actually), I found a supply of the correct OE weatherstrip with the lip seal last year. The craziness is that GM continued to manufacture this part until January 2014! The product I have in sealed GM boxes was packaged on the 354th day of 2013 per the label. It is correct for the 86-87 cars. you can install this on the 84-85 cars however GM used a different profile weatherstrip seal on those cars.

These weatherstrips and their boxes are perfect. They are in limited quantity and then probably gone forever. If you want $10 aftermarket stuff, this is not for you. If you have a concours restoration project or a great car with a torn trunk seal like GNX 060 showed on bring a trailer, I have what you need.

Pricing is $250 USD shipped with the lower 48 states. Paypal FF. Please private message me if you'd like to purchase.

Would you mind sharing the part # so we can see if we can find it and procure it own our own? Your sig does say SHARING KNOWLEDGE WITH THOSE WHO CARE TO LISTEN. This is Dr. Frasier Crane I'm listening.

I'll bet for $250 he'd give you a perfect part and a perfect box with the perfect "GM part number" . . .

just make sure you glue off to the side of the trunk latch.. not in center ..ask me how know ;)

Anthony P .... good find! As I know 1st hand 25558394 did not fit our cars (I have several). Being a 30+yr GM employee I used the original 20641957 I had in a box from 1989 or so. Nothing wrong with not giving out a number you worked hard to get.
On the other hand .. it doesn't stop the future owner of this part from sharing it with the Turbo Buick community ;)

Yes, GM's database error occurred in September 1991 when the incorrect 25558394 was listed as an interchange and supercession to 20641957. What I have is not a supply of 20641957 as they were not made in 2013. Sure someone can purchase these and boast about the part #, if they are that obsessed. I guarantee you won't find any on your own. there is nothing that links either part # to what I have.

Folks should be happy these were found and made available for purchase rather than attempt to undermine the process. If you don't want to purchase one, that's fine...

restoration shops are waiting for these. I gave members the first opportunity to purchase. if you are not interested, then that's more for the shops.;)

If you want to help the community you would not gouge us on the price. I personally would rather buy aftermarket than take it up the butt from someone who says they SHARING KNOWLEDGE with the community but has at least a 500% mark up on an item that only people building a 90 plus point resto are willing to pay that much for a trunk seal. I make no apologies for this post because you state in your sig SHARING KNOWLEDGE WITH THOSE WHO CARE TO LISTEN. I hold you to a higher standard because of this. May your love of money continue to expose your true self. Sell them to the shops that want them and let them double gouge their customers.

@robzombie, too bad you feel that way. it's apparent you're not familiar with the process of purchasing discontinued or obsolete parts, specifically GM parts. Many OEM's, in an effort to push more sales thru the dealerships, mandated that purchase agreements be changed. Obsolete, slow moving, and discontinued parts could no longer be purchased directly from the third party warehousing partners who store these parts for a few more years - giving potential more service life before the parts are scrapped and discarded.

If a part is to be purchsed, it must be done thru a GM dealer now. Find a participating dealer in the discontinued parts re-purchase program is the first task. Then, a dealer assigns matrix pricing to the part on top of list pricing PLUS a warranty markup. Since the part is discontinued, the dealer needs an insurance cost markup since the selling dealer has to warranty it as a new albeit discontinued part. However, since it's a discontinued part, there is no replacement. the dealer would eat the cost of the part if there is an issue. Add to that cost shipping and sales tax paid by me.

the result is the pricing structure I listed. I'm not making anything on this - I cover my cost at this unit pricing. We all know what GM weatherstrip costs vs the value engineered aftermarket stuff with thinner side-walls and cheaper construction.

Again, it's apparent you're not familiar with the process of purchasing discontinued or obsolete parts from an OEM, GM or otherwise.

your thoughts are your own. I stand by my record on this forum.

You're entitled to get what you can for anything you sell. I won't argue that at all. I just thought that you were trying to help out the community. If there was a demand for this part and I knew about it I would find it and pass it on to the members here at a small profit. That's just me. Honestly GLWS, I just may be old now and be out of the loop on what is considered helping my fellow GN owners out. PS I am familiar with some of the ways you can purchase these items, which is usually in bulk from a dealer that is/did go out of business/ estate sales and so forth.

they just changed the way you buy discontinued NOS parts ... usually you could find them through OEM cats or another site forgot the name right now and it would list any dealership that had these rare parts and you could call them up and buy ... not anymore the new CEO of GM has done away with this process and will only allow certain people/compaanies to buy now... this is not good for the average Joe who cares about these concours details and parts ... the dealerships have actually doubled or tripled the cost of certain rare parts as well...I know Anthony P personally and I know how detailed he is in his research and correctness with these cars.... and to actually find a mistake GM made from 1991 is impressive and I am sure it cost you more than just the time alone in finding these pieces ...as I stated in a post above they also changed how this piece of weatherstripping was installed at the factory.. they started glueing it in the center right behind the trunk latch and were having problems with it being done in this particular area for what ever reason ... they realized the failure and started glueing them off to the side and it solved the problem ... anyways ... I am happy you found these rare pieces Tony and are offering them for sale to members first ... gentlemen if you do not agree with the price thats fine... but dont insult one of my friends saying he is price gouging... Anthony is very generous with his knowledge and helping out the TR brother hood ... I highly doubt he got them for what they cost back in 1991 :p
I know its hard for you old codgers to accept the fact that gas doesn't cost 87 cents anymore and car parts are over 100 dollars sometimes :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Dear sir I may be older, but the one thing that is cheaper now than back in 91 is gas. It was about .97 back then and now is only 1.12 where I live. Take away the fed and state taxes and it would be like .39 a gallon. Oh and I forgot the ethanol subsidy that is also used to lower the cost of gas. Non ethanol is around 1.69 which adjusted for 30 yrs. inflation is well below .87 cents. As for the parts cars you are again correct. I would buy them for $2/500 and drive them home. As for a 250.00 trunk weather strip? I'm sorry I won't pay that unless I had money to burn. Let the people who want concours cars spend it like said in original post. I wish him no ill will and was just asking for info to find them because his sig says SHARING KNOWLEDGE WITH THOSE WHO CARE TO LISTEN. I was just seeing if that was true. I was also half joking because I already knew the answer by the price he's asking for them.
