Been in the forum here for a few years and wanting a GNX for many more. Finally found one local to me here in Massachusetts. Car is under 8k miles, one owner with window sticker, jacket, numbered book, and some extras like service manuals and other intial sales documents. I would like to express my thanks to X-Ray these past two weeks for his assistance over the phone in helping me verify that the car had correct turbo, valve cover, block and transmission serial numbers. Rick spent a lot of time with me and as you all know he continues to help the GNX legacy live on. Going to see if I can enter in the registry as well. I would also like to thank the intial owner (Gary B.) for taking great care of the car and thanks to the forum members that responded to my other post about replacement options for wheels, tires and exhaust. I am still considering various ideas. Also got some good info today from Pete at Richard Clark's Garage about adding ZDDP to the motor oil. Can't wait to take the axe wielding giant out this spring.

congrats on your acquisition.

this has probably been suggested to you, but I'll say it again. consider removing and storing the original wheels/tires, turbo, and original exhaust. install a set of repro wheels (classic industries), a TA49 turbo(something stock appearing), and the true stainless (304) exhaust Richard made. probably covered in your other thread. Enjoy the ride.

Comgrats !!!! Springtime will be here shortly... and enjoy..:cool:

congrats ... sounds like a great car and even greater experience ... I will 2nd the motion to store some items as Antony P recommended ..especially the turbo the ceramic turbine on the turbo can be a little more fragile than a typical metal one ...ask me I how I know LOL eeeehhh... also I forgot to add this exhaust to the list the other day ..just remembered it ...unsure of fit for you but looks really good like the OEM on gnx ...

Yes X-ray and Pete at Richard Clark's suggested swapping out wheels/tires and turbo, adding ZDDP to oil and patching or going with their exhaust system. I am going to get the BF Goodrich G-Force Sport Comp2 tires but I'm still a bit confused on what to do about the wheels. The parts-place site states they have the correct GNX offset front and rear wheels available however I was told recently that the Parts Place wheels DO NOThave the correct offset and will sit more inside the fenders?. I did speak to a member here that has wheels that were custom welded to the correct offset although I do not know if any safety issues with that type of repaired/welded combination. Also, I don't see any GNX wheels on the classic indusries site. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks again!

Mario's wheels are top notch grade A ... if he has some id jump on that ... just saying I have a set of his refurbished GN wheels and welds are perfect been driving on them two years now . no safety issues in my eyes ... unsure about repros haven't really looked into that

@mario987

parts place, classic, etc will all have the repro black mesh trans am GTA wheels - set of 4 with offset of 0. original GNX had different offsets for front and rear.
https://www.classicindustries.com/shop/1987/buick/regal/parts/wheel-tire/

the zero offset set of 4 wheels is what regular turbo buicks go to for a mesh wheel when the OE wheels show their age. or a set of the newly made GN aluminum wheels.

as grassdoc noted, message Mario for what he has. he really does do nice work.

I have Mario’s wheels on my car as well they are perfect.Everywhere I go people want to know where I got them.

Congrats on the new ride! Nice to know there is another X in MA. Can’t wait to put some more miles on mine too. Where in MA did the car come from?

Car was garaged in Sharon, MA. I got it from the first owner that bought it new at at Beretta Buick Pontiac in Brocton, MA (closed business).

Great find! Let me know when you are out and about. Always nice to meet another X owner. I’ll be taking mine out soon.

Did some work on the AC today. Hoping to get out soon, perhaps a show or 2. Where you located in MA?
